best desk top to handle MP

I am new to the drone photog business but not to video and editing, and I am in the process of buying a computer that will handle editing of my 4K MP video

Right now I am looking at :
Dell Iinspirion Gaming Desktop w/AMD Ryzen 7 1700,16GBmem,1TB hd,AMDRadeon 580 8GB

and: Apple iMac w/ 3.0GHz quadcore, 8GB mem, 1TB storage


Any suggestions ?

I'm a windows guy but either would due, depends on what software you want to use. I have an Alienware Aurora R6 with 16GB ram and 8gb GTX 1080 video card, renders video like a dream!

Guess it's what your just used to and how much you want to spend. I've always had Windows but just got the 5K iMac and going through the learning curve but so far love it .

I always recommend that you first shop for the software because it will list the requirements needed for the computer. General rule of thumb: as much RAM and the highest power video card you can get.

The caveat I just discovered is consider the software you're thinking on using.

Ex: DeVinci wants Win10, 64bit OS, and a gaming level discrete GFX card. (Think nVidia 1080). Shouldn't surprise me since editing would be a performance hungry task.
