Ok, that's what I thought; that's the disconnect.
We are talking about a different type of policy, not the one like yours.

I was offered the same policy for the same price. But I asked for an endorsement that reimbursed at the cost of replacement with the latest comparable model. That raised the premium to $60/year (a 22% premium increase). So my thinking is that people eligible for a personal property policy from State Farm could opt for reimbursement at original purchase cost or upgrade to replacement cost at a higher premium.
functionally, my State Farm drone insurance is simple. I get up to $5000 of coverage for $60/year. I have listed my Mavic 3 and my Mini 3 Pro on the policy. At the time, the Mini 3 Pro was still available and hadn't been discontinued. I insured it for a replacement value of $850 for drone and battery
ok....maybe I wasn't concise enoughOk, that's fine but you kinda threw me for a loop when you mentioned a "specific" amount of coverage instead of "I got the same plan you got but I asked to upgrade it" and you mentioned adding a couple of drones to the same policy which I don't think it available to most of us....but you know what, that's good to know; we'll see when someone goes to sign up next time if this is available but I know it wasn't available to me but then again, that was more than 3 years ago.
Does it cover commercial use, or only recreationalAnyone can get a standalone policy from State Farm to cover their drone; no prior relationship required.
Recreational only.Does it cover commercial use, or only recreational
The company I use, out of California, covers lots of photographers and Filmakers it’s a great and comprehensive package for my photography business. Although it has a $1000 deductible per incident so I only use it for complete catastrophe like my car getting broken into and several thousand dollars worth of lighting gear stolen. And of course it’s got all the usual Liability coverage. For the price being reported on State Farm policies, I'm assuming that it has no liability coverage. That's my big concern. I'm currently paying around $600 for a photography policy that includes $1 million or so liability. Includes replacement cost for all my photography equipment except the drone. Any better suggestions?
Are you Positive that’s the case? Have you asked your agent if that’s true? I’d want to make sure that rather than just assume. My homeowners policy covers liability for damage done by personal property.
Personal property excludes motor vehicles and aircraft used to transport people or persons. So drones would not be excluded.
