Hi everyone,

Please excuse me for my ignorance but I just bought my first drone (a total newbie) and hoping to use it on my upcoming four city, three country trip. Was wondering if anyone may know whether I can fly my MP in Vienna, Prague, Brno and Krakow? Do I need to apply for a certificate? .. License? .. Or would anyone know the laws. I attempted some research but only found one site which the forms are in a language I do not understand. Hoping some of you may have visited these cities and have some insights to share. Thanks.

Hey, if those forms are in polish language, feel free to send me.
I found this site: ULC - Lataj z głową | 10 zasad latania bezzałogowym statkiem powietrznym in the video you have English subtitles. They say that you should not fly above people, cities and buildings. But no one actually gives a f.. you know what.. about this.
But you can get in trouble if you fly near airports and government buildings, so don't do this. That's about Kraków.

I flew in Prague about a month or so ago, P3A with no issues, although I didn't fly right in city center, I did fly over 2 of the bridges on edge of city. No flying over monuments, people or military barracks, other than this all questions related to Flying my P3A. Had much better flying in Crete & especially on surrounding islands. Be prepared to carry allot of currency, you can fly over & probably into parliament buildings, or anywhere you want with the right amount of dollars in your pocket.
I.E.- I stayed at Eluonda beach hotel, which is just spectacular , after a few American dollars changed hands I even had a security escort so no one would bother me while flying!

Thanks Just Me for the tips. I guess common sense will save the day. I would imagine I would need permission to fly a drone over Auschwitz. I saw a drone clip over Auschwitz probably made by the authorities, it was very eerie .. I'll check out the link. Thanks again .. ;-)

Eluonda Beach Hotel? .. There is a beach in Prague? I thought just a river runs through it hahaha. I found an Airbnb just about a 30 meters from one of the towers on the St. Charles Bridge. Perhaps if I fly it following the river, I may be okay. The whole city is full of monuments. I'll keep the currency in pocket in mind too. Thanks for the tip Royster! .. :)

I'm going to go to Prague and Vienna end of this month.
Very useful information, thanks.

I am from Prague.. so do us a favor and enjoy the views and don't be a **** about flying a drone in the city.. I know what I can afford there and I would never fly anywhere downtown or in any of the tourist spots, just too much of a chance of getting busted. Plus.. I just don't want to ruin the experience for the others. Although a group of Italian tourists is probably way noisier than a Mavic ;)

Got it Plawa, I won't be a **** and fly anywhere downtown or tourist spots which I would not have done anyway .. but thanks for the reminder .. Actually I am a bit surprise on how noisy this drone is which would definitely gain unwanted attention ..

Hey HenriC .. Are you bringing your drone? I will be bringing mine but may have to look for some desolate areas with ruins .. Shoot me some tips if you do fly in these places .. And I'll do the same for you but you are probably much more experience than I am at this .. I may get too gun shy to bring it out but we'll see.

Hi, Plee,

I'll bring my MP, also I will bring the Osmo just in case.
It's good idea to fly in desolate areas. Actually I'm just a beginner in drone flying, still learning more technique about it.
Here are some videos I shoot in Taiwan, my home country.

Hey HenryC,

Great job on the videos and editing. I am just learning a starter editing program now call Wondershare Filmora. So far so good. It's a learning curve. What dates will you be in Vienna and Prague. Perhaps we can meet up for coffee or a beer and I can grab some tips from you. If you are free and around, if not, no worries. I will be in Vienna from Sept. 19-24, then to Krakow, then Brno, and will be in Prague Oct 4-9.

I flew Krakow. Go to square very early in AM when no one there. The police watched me. Great place to fly and great Medieval city.

Czeck generally OK everywhere, but not Prague. Brno not that scenic. But, north in Olemouc is wonderful stuff.

Olemouc is very nice. And, also the Bousov Castle. But I probably wouldn't get this close again.

Prague NO
Vienna NO, but go across river to Bratislava, nice ruins there.

Up river on the Danube has lots of cool Castles and Ruins as well. No one will bother you .

Auschwitz Hell No. You will not wish to do it once you visit. The experience does not need recording anyway as it will be burned into your memory .

In general, try to go off the beaten path. There is more of the country to experience away from the crowds.

Hi Jbearing,

Awesome, the Bousov Castle video is so cool. Thanks so much for your thoughts, your suggestions on where to fly in the area, where not to fly and sharing the videos. I'll play it by ear but understand what you are saying.

Thanks again Jbearing,

Perry
