Can this ultimately affect drones that fly over another person's property simply based on principle?

That palm trees are not native to CA, and do not support the city's climate action goals apparently means that all palm trees all over San Diego are now at risk of removal, and the City will use any excuse to remove them, including FAA height clearances!
Wow. That's reading a lot into the removal of 20 trees in response to a request from the FAA. Suddenly ALL palms in the city are subject to removal for ANY excuse! Those climate action goals must be downright subversive!

The same could be said for non-native Norway Rats in New York City. They define many neighborhoods in NYC and thrive in a variety of habitats. Their nativity should be irrelevant. They've been part of the environment for hundreds of years. That the city wants to eradicate them in the interest of public health and safety is abhorrent.
Seriously? Comparing rats to palm trees that are naturally associated with warm, coastal environments like southern CA, and are quintessential symbols of tropical vacations, is patently absurd.

No, it was the City's justification of their removal to the citizens of San Diego , which was based upon their own agenda, which has "climate action goals of removing air pollution, reducing stormwater runoff, and creating a more sustainable and resilient San Diego" at the expense of destroying everything that has made the city enjoyable in the past. It's part of a recent pattern of destruction. Cramming in above ground powered trolley lines, blocking revered bay views, after previously undergrounding all power lines, in the name of unneeded mass transit improvements, just to justify obtaining $10 billion in federal matching funds, and now tearing the city apart for a Toilet to Tapwater PURE WATER project, while implementing traffic calming measures everywhere to make traffic worse, while pursuing their pipe dream of everyone biking to work by converting traffic lanes and on street parking into unused bike lanes, and saving the planet. LOL!

So, you're not a fan of their efforts to meet that goal or the goal?

Is the city's claim that the FAA requested that the 20 trees be removed false? Or did the city somehow pressure to FAA to make the request?

Suffice it to say that their version of a sustainable and resilient San Diego isn't mine, nor that of the majority of long time San Diego residents, who wanted San Diego to stay San Diego, rather than become southern Los Angeles or northern Tijuana. Unfortunately, that train has already left the station, and the irreversible destruction has already taken place. During the Trolley expansion, widening of impacted roads to accommodate the increased traffic obstruction caused by rerouting traffic around the trolley stations was considered, but ultimately rejected, because it was incompatible with their goal of obstructing traffic to encourage more trolley ridership. That the predicted trolley ridership to justify the 5 years of decimation that preceded its opening hasn't met with goals is "unfortunate." Ballot measures to increase trash collection fees that underestimated the actual cost by 50% are deemed "honest mistakes" rather than a calculated bait and switch. Not mailing a protest over the proposed trash fees is deemed an approval. Lots of shady stuff going on with long range consequences.

Sounds reminiscent to the line from the movie Judge Dredd:
"Eat recycled food. It's good for the environment and OK for you."

California has some of the weirdest laws I have ever known. A few Examples:
It is a crime to recycle aluminum cans from other states
Within the next few months you can no longer use your gas powered mower. ( OR RC Gasser!!!!!! ).
No driving in the "bikers lane".
No menthol cigarettes are allowed to be sold at the "Smoke Shops" but selling them everywhere else is O.K.
BUT...For all of their stupid laws and the California Governments claim of concern for all. This is the only state I have lived that the Police are just not gonna show if you call. In fact when you call to report a crime (any Crime) you will be directed to a website form to complete.
A group of teens stole a car from somewhere and drove it until they got to the front of my home. there they got out and stripped the car, it took them about 20 min to get what they were after and I was watching out my window talking with the dispatcher as they ripped the car apart. I was told they were busy and an officer would be out the next day to get a report! I even had to cover the cost to have the remains towed away.....At the suggestion of...THE POLICE!!!
Some of the strangest things you will experience in California seem to come from just Living in California. lol

I forgot the best one...
Last year an elementary school teacher discovered two small girls playing with bags of weed!!! Upon inspecting the playground, 50 lbs of labeled cannabis was found discarded next to a shed on school grounds (obviously a dispensary was burgled and the bootie disposed of quickly there). When she called the police to report it and have them come to get it, She was told "We are busy" and "just keep it" She then took the weed to the station where the police proceeded to escort her and the box of weed out the door threatening her with arrest if she returned. I think this one made most peoples news.

Doesn't seem to show up in web searches. Have a link?

Several places the police won't show for minor crimes or infractions. As it should be....and that's because people dial 911 when there isn't an actual emergency where the police is needed ASAP so therefore it's necessary to manage the calls. The police are not obligated to respond to *any* call for service but they'll be the first to tell you since they got a call, they have extra rights and you have less rights as a result. That's why they show up for stupid stuff. It's ridiculous. For example, if you call about a suspicious person sitting on a park bench minding his business, they might not show but if you happen to mention he's holding a remote controller (as in operating a drone) even if it's legal, half the shift will show up in 5 minutes. In my mind, showing up 2, 3, or 4 hours later is no different than not showing up; why bother?

This is an interesting document if you're interested in the topic:

Thanks.

So, it wasn't found at a school.
It was three pounds, not 50 pounds.
No teacher was involved.
It was found by three boys, not two girls.
No mention of evidence that a burglary of a dispensary was involved.
No mention of an arrest threat to the woman.
Police picked up the marijuana 19 hours after the initial report.

Follow-up article here: https://www.kget.com/news/local-new...-turned-away-from-turning-in-found-marijuana/

It's definitely disappointing that there weren't adequate police resources readily available. But. things became somewhat exaggerated. Like when that woman in Ohio couldn't find her cat and "They're eating the dogs!" made it into the presidential debates.

It is a crime to recycle aluminum cans from other states
Banner Blue long.png

In a nutshell, Michigan is not legally bound to return a deposit on a container when no deposit was paid in the first place. To request a return on a deposit when no deposit was not paid in the first place is considered Fraud in Michigan… So California, like other states like Michigan also consider it Fraud and Fraud is illegal in all states…

Example below…

About 30-years ago, my son and his friends heard that Michigan was paying about 10-cents for each recycled can or container… Here in Virginia soda cans were recycled for about 55-cents a pound (about 35-cans…) for crushed cans. But Michigan was paying $3.50 for those same 35-cans…

But the hitch was that the cans could not be crushed or they were only sold for scrap like in Virginia. The reason that they could not be crushed was that each can, bottle, or container was fed into a machine that spun it around and it read the UPC to ensure that it was not brought in from places where no deposit was paid.

So my son and his friends went on a serious can drive, even buying un-crushed cans from other collectors and they loaded up a van with so many cans that the three of them could barely fit.

They went up to Michigan, collected the deposit on the cans, and they then returned with money to burn on all sorts of new stuff.

But while they were up there, they heard of a "Can Cartel" that was transporting out of state cans into Michigan for the deposit… And the Michigan State Troopers busted a lot of "Bad-canners…" and confiscated tons of cans that never originated in Michigan…

And here's why it is illegal… The Deposit collected by the retailer is turned over to the State just like Sales Tax… When the deposit is paid out for a return, it is from the deposits that were paid previously. But when out-do-state cans are turned in; the deposit is not being returned but rather paid out to someone who never paid the deposit in the first place and essentially that meant Michigan was paying to have trash brought into the state…

They did eventually go and get the box AFTER a local station interviewed her She also got many offers to relieve her of her "Burden"

I was going from memory and did not re-read the story....You are correct.

The cannabis was labeled by strain on the bags so it was from a dispensary. They also found a bunch of smiley face baggies that some dispensaries used to use. ( they have to use containers that can be sealed and not re-sealed now)
No mention of an arrest threat to the woman.
They removed her from the building and told her they were closed so I think that is threat enough of arrest for tresspass.

Thats pretty much the reason I thought Cali made it such a big deal BUT the thing is when you purchase the bottle the State takes its fee with a promise of return..YET they don't return a fee they simply pay you for the weight of the Plastic (Much much less) So in my opinion they only make it illegal because someone is hording in on their scam.

Yes, I think you took my remarks too seriously.
