Cannot see the controller icon (can't enter intelligent flight mode selection)

There's probably a very simple solution to this, but I've not been able to find it. I want to press the controller icon (lower left corner of DJI GO screen) so I can select an intelligent flight mode. Either the compass or one of the maps covers that portion of the screen - as shown in these two images. Can anyone help? I just got my Mavic Pro yesterday and am still learning the ropes. Thanks!

Doesn't it only appear when flying? Also, are you in P mode?

I checked the mode toggle and - OMG! - I've been flying in Sports Mode since I first got this drone (just yesterday)! I'm going outside right now to fly it in P Mode and, hopefully, I'll be able to see the controller icon.

You also need to enable flight modes- disabled by default.
