COMMERCE DEPARTMENT ADD DJI TO ITS ECONOMIC BLACKLIST

Yet the story explicitly says NOT BANNED?

What does this mean for consumers of DJI products?

This does not mean that DJI products are going to be banned in the US, or at least that’s our understanding. You’ll still be able to purchase the drone of your choice, just like you can still purchase Huwawei products.

So nothing in A DJI drone is USA technology?

It will be interesting to watch in the coming months. This could become highly political with conflicting positions of incoming and outgoing administrations.

Agreed Time will tell but if the DJI app is banned from AppStore or playstore than Houston we have a problem...

The chances of Apple and Google not including the DJI apps is slim. They are part of Big Tech. Read between the lines.

What this has meant for HikVision, a manufacturer of surveillance camera equipment, is that their equipment cannot be used at government facilities. However, it's okay for private business and residential. Not sure if this would be the same for DJI, but more than likely.

Government facilities and any business that does business with Government.

Won't be DJI suffering here.
All those search and rescue, professional survey companies and filmmakers who are now going to struggle to get by far the best tool for the job (and in lots of areas, where there is absolutely no alternative product) will suffer instead.

Seems somewhat idiotic to ban your own people from being able to use by far the best and often only tool for a job.

Playstore is no issue. Plenty of alternatives to that.
DJI already provide a direct APK download link from their site.

No, it is not a ban. Not in the slightest.

I have TWEAKED the title of this thread to make it a bit more accurate!!

DJI will have to ship their own LCD screens to users for free if the apps are disallowed. This will also cause issue with FAA authorisations

What do LCD screens have to do with the Commerce Department?
