  1. Do return to base as soon as the signal gets orange? There are 3 bars in orange. I return since I’m paranoid.
  2. Does anyone put a clear lens over the camera? The ND filters protect the lense but the stock config leaves it exposed
  3. What is the most cost effective way to store video in the cloud? Google photos is free for 1080p but I’d like to shoot higher
Thanks in advance

Most DJI drones have a clear UV filter protecting the lens.

An ND filter cuts lots of light, stopping it reaching the sensor.
That's not something you want for still photography.

Depends on the intended result. I use ND filters fairly often in regular photography when I want to use a wider aperture to narrow my depth of focus without exceeding my minimum shutter time (1/4000 on one of my cameras, 1/8000 on the other.)

I can easily imagine certain cases where someone might deliberately choose an extremely long shutter time for a still image from a drone, to capture some motion blur.

At the same time, I am not a fan of putting extra pieces of glass in front of the front element of the lens - internal reflections are a pain when they get in the way of the intended image.

OK .. I'll spell it out in more detail
With DJI drones, depth of field isn't an issue, your lens has more than you need at any aperture.
Unless you have a particular need to force a slower shutter speed than would otherwise be possible, there is no need to use ND filters for still photography from a drone.

My MA 1 didn't have a clear filter - just a screw on ring that I remove when using ND filters

I was all set to argue with you until I checked and was able to stick my finger right thru the glass ;)
