40% reduction in noise seem substantial. That would be about half as loud as it is now. I know people complain about the noise of the mavic, but it's actually much quieter than other drones I've flown.

The battery life will be due to the esc, probably more efficient components and tweaked pwm

I also bought the prop cages/tennis racquet thing. Will these now work? I be a bit p***ed if they don't because I hauled them back from the USA

We think so because DJI says so but we don't know **** because they have been announced a couple hours ago.. what else did you expect?

No- but will the original props for the cage work. That's what I meant. Even if they are noisier.

Are the props backwards compatible. I have lots of spare Mavic props and the props for the cage. Will these work on the new platinum- even though it's going to be 'noisier'

I'm not sure where the 40% number came from. Website says 60% (4db) reduction in noise. I imagine maybe putting the props on the original mavic will be slightly less of an improvement, but will still be nice I'm sure.

I'm actually glad they released this, it tells me that Mavic 2 is nowhere near release (which would cost me $$) and that they're hopefully working towards making drones quieter.. and we can actually use some of the improvements on existing models. Nice.

what they should work on is an extended battery compatible with current MAVIC that pushes flight toward the 40 min...even if that means it will be in a bigger format that will change the shape of the nicely fit MAVIC

Nope, more like a confirmation they aren't going with a yearly cycle on this model and a Mavic 2 won't come any time soon. Will likely have to wait for next spring or so.
Bit like the Inspire series, they did the I1 V2 in the middle.

LOL I'll grab some props for the 'black-hawk' stealth mode, as for the 3 min additional time this isn't going to bother me too much. I'll try less procrastination next time I fly, that'll gain at least 3 min.
