DJI Mini 5 Pro in Amazon. Is this legit?

This is not the deal that the M5P was. With Mic 3 out you can get the Mini just about anywhere for the $99. B & H and Adorama have it at $99.
So it seems; although B&H is o-o-s....looks like the Mic Mini is priced lower pretty much everywhere. Other than using it with a drone for the audio, that would be my only purpose for now. I'll return it for BF is something better comes along.

Have been watching daily. Price of RC2 fly more standard battery has been stable at $1600-1700 USD. I guess that is the markup required for tariffs and the hassle of importing. I’ve seen some mini 4 pro back in stock but not worth it to me when the 5 is probably around the corner. I have the M3 pro for now. Looking forward to official release I guess, unless something better comes along.

Why would anyone in the U.S. want the standard battery version when it offers none of expected benefits of not broadcasting RID and being under 250g, and registration therefore still required? The Plus battery version offers 15 minutes more flight time for a few dollars more. Those in the EU cannot buy the Plus version, so the standard version is intended for the EU, but it still broadcasts RID, even though not required there.

....because I believe there are many Americans who plan to fly the M5P unregistered, regardless. You can't do that with the Plus page. Just read my previous post on the topic where it was repeatedly suggested "Don't worry about it; it's all good. No one is going to really care about ± 4 g" was the message.

GadgetGuy you make a lot of sense. If I need to register because it broadcasts RID, then why bother with the 250 weight limit? I registered my M3P just because. No because it was required, I just didn't;t want any hassles if law enforcement stopped me. I also have the TRUST proof in my wallet. I don't; really care whether registered or not. In the end, your point is valid and I will spring for the Plus when it available at the proper price.

All the hype is because there are some people who believe that broadcasting RID lets no-gooder folks find them and do them harm. Everyone is out to get them.

If they plan to fly it unregistered regardless, and it still broadcasts RID anyway, why not get the Plus version? The drone is exactly the same. What battery you choose to put inside it makes no difference legally or morally. It's still over 250g. Just carry a Mini 4 Pro standard battery that states 249g on the exterior of the battery and put it inside the Mini 5 Pro for weighing by the LEO with a scale, assuming it ever gets that far. "Oops, my bad. It says 249g! How can it weigh over that?" LOL!

Believe what you want, but the fact is that broadcasting RID lets anyone with a Dronetag RIDER within 2 miles know your exact location throughout the flight and exactly which drone you are flying!

"Everyone" doesn't need to be out to get you. It only takes one, with a gun, coming for your $5,000 Mavic 4 Pro Creator Combo, which they know you are flying, and will wait for you to land, forcing you to hand it and the RC Pro 2 over at gunpoint. Hope you have your CCP weapon you!

"Anyone" is defined by someone with $1100 of loose change to buy a Dronetag RIDER. You are more likely to have your drone stolen out of your car by smash-and-grab thieves than by armed robbers with expensive RID detection devices.

I would also venture that your drone faces a greater risk of being shot down by some farmer with a shotgun than being stolen by the Dronetag Bandit.

So, someone is going to hunt you down, with a gun, to steal your $5000 drone combo, knowing that it has a tracker built in that can't be disabled and not knowing if you're armed?

That's one stupid criminal.

This is some serious paranoia.

Don't forget, the thief who steals your expensive drone *and* remote controller will immediately unbind your DJI account from the drone by going into the controller and clicking on the unbind button. If they are smart, they will login with their own made-up account and bind the drone meaning you won't be able to report it stolen to DJI.

So you’ll want to take advantage of the ability to add a screen lock password to your rc 2’s settings.

Hear that folks? Lock your controller to keep it protected not just from prying eyes but also from theft. It was a good move on DJI to implement it recently; not sure what older controllers have it. Goggles don't have it. It says "screen lock" on the RC Pro but I don't see where you can enable it. Thieves know that most people don't use it and eventually the crack for the Android password will be available if needed.

But this should work. If you lock your RC2 and the thief cannot bypass the screen lock, he can hard reset the RC to clear everything but that should also remove the DJI account login ID. There's no way to add it back unless you know the password. You need that particular ID in order to unbind because simply adding your own ID won't work. If the thief cannot unbind, it's just a matter of time before that drone possibly gets disabled so then he'll have to sell a drone that is bound and could eventually stop working once it connects to wifi. That makes 2 victims.

Depending upon where you are flying, that may be true.

Pretty good return on investment if your RIDER can get you one or more free Mavic 4 Pro's without tax or tariffs. No gun needed. Just follow the pilot after landing to his next location, where he parks while getting lunch, and just do a smash and grab there, knowing what's inside!

Did you miss the part about, ”Hope you have your CCP weapon on you!"?
