DJI Mini 5 Pro question

FWIW, I don't think what they are doing is legal, so past experiences aren't guaranteed to play out the same way in the future. However, sellers have been misrepresenting products when shipping internationally for a long time.

With that said, I do think you'll receive whatever you buy. Just keep in mind that you might get hit with unexpected import fees that could wipe out the savings you were expecting.

I haven't seen anyone mention that happening yet, so the chances are likely very slim, especially if you place your order sooner rather than later.
You make a point which is why folks are concerned about ebay sellers overseas and ebay sellers in general but at least the 102_store has a very solid track record and has been trustworthy to numerous people. There is nothing illegal about buying from overseas like this if the dealer itself is honest but it IS important for people to understand that these drones come only with a manufacturers warranty AND it has to be executed from within the country it is bought. That means in order to get warranty work done you have to return it to the seller and have them intervene which I know has happened in the past for some people but I sure don't count on it. With that in mind, I have State Farm insurance on my newer drones.

The drone I purchased from a South Korean seller identified it as exactly what it was on the customs declaration.

Right, I'm agreeing the track record has been fantastic, but also there are no guarantees for future purchases.

Some Korean sellers (102_store included I believe) are mispresenting packages. For example, this post shows a Mavic 4 Pro was declared as a Milwaukee Cordless Drill.

Also, note this fine print at the very bottom of the 102_store listings on eBay:

Customs

1. Custom Tax

According to Ebay Policy, Custom tax/ Duty/VAT are under Buyer’s responsibility.

If your local customs charge for the customs tax/ Duty /VAT/ Brokerage Fees/ Handling Fees,

The buyer will have to pay for it.

So before purchasing, please check the tax rate with your local custom .

I also try my best to reduce the tax or duty according to your request.

-Mini5Pro Combo delivered 9/25
-RC Pro 2 delivered 9/29
-Flight Battery Plus delivered 10/9
Each was a separate order from Korean 102_store on eBay, and each arrived in less than 7 days
No additional charges from FedEx.

PAW- would you mind clarifying your purchase? Was the controller a RC2, or RC Pro 2. I have an RC Pro for my M3.
Ah yes. The Department of Redundancy Department. I've got one of those in my head too 😁
Yes- I would say your comment was redundant. Redundancy got me through college and med school. Don't we just love these little word games?

By the way, in re: the RC Pro in my above question, it has not yet been answered. Does there exist an RC 2 Pro or is it just the RC Pro? For my Mavic 3, I am using the more costly Black (not grey) RC Pro. I ask, because I think the RC pro that comes with the whole fly more pkg for the Mavic Mini 5 Pro is the grey one. Before I go ahead and order from the Korean sellers 102_store I want to be sure to order the one with the screen.

There are a lot of us in the same boat- waiting to order the Mini 5 Pro and sell our Mini 4 Pro but not being able to order on the usual sites and worrying about these third party South Korean sellers. I wish we could get some educated guidance from those on the forum who have experience with these sellers. I would gladly send my money to a South Korean company if I was reassured by those here who have already purchased from them and can reasssure us.

Understandable, it's not easy to simply put your credit card into the website and keep your fingers crossed for something like a drone from Korea to drop on your front door. Many years ago, this was unheard of outside the bigger retailers so it's fairly new to many. I wouldn't exactly say I am now comfortable with it but I've recognized it as an industry that evolved based on demand rather than the traditional "there are sellers in Korea trying to sell stuff to Americans, please buy Korean." We asked for this and they came thru with flying colors not only with stock and availability but also with reasonable pricing considering. Luckily a few took the leap and took their chances, the risk was high but it seems to be working out tremendously. Unfortunately I can't say the same after Dec 23 when the "unknown" once again triggers a new round of uncertainty which is the number one enemy of free trade. Government regulations are always a problem. We can only hope the industry will evolve and adapt and we don't have a repeat of the dark and dismal situation we experienced about a year ago and the beginning of 2025.

I'm sure that was an honest mistake; probably translation. :)
Just like the NEO 2 I recently received, I mean...it does have a camera. ;)

DJI RC Pro 2, Dale. Purchased separately as the mini5P packages at the time did not come with the Pro 2.

I bought my Mini 5 Pro Plus combo from a South Korean seller - value_goods. I received my drone promptly after about 3 business days about 3 weeks ago. I thought that was the end of the transaction, but yesterday I received a bill from FedEx for an unpaid duty for $10.50. I noticed Department of Homeland Security is mentioned on it. It's only $10, so I'm just gonna pay it. Has any of you received something like this?

I have purchased x2 - Mini 5 fly more plus from seller, Dooroomi Trade on eBay without any problems at all. They have almost 13k in feedback and at 99% positive. My friend also just purchased his Mavic 4 Pro Creasor Fly More from them too and received his in 3 days. If you guys want a good seller from Korea. I haven't had any issues with firmware updates and am as happy as a clam!

That’s where I purchased our Mavic 4 Pro Creator Combos from. SK Lee, the guy at Dooroomi Trade was excellent to deal with. They were all shipped within 24 hours of ordering, arrived quickly, and without any other fees. Dooroomi Trade is definitely on my short list when we need more drones, and so is the 102 Store where I got some of our Mini 5 Pros from.

Got a Neo 2 through an ebay seller, took 5 days.

The biggest problem so far is simply finding manuals and such on line in the US -- DJI has blocked US access to these parts of their website, resulting in 404 errors.

They can be found but require a bit of googling.

Seems a little spiteful to me that DJI has done this.

At the bottom of your page on the DJI web site, change your country / language to (Canada / English) and you’ll be able to see and download all the Neo 2 stuff, Mini 5 Pro, etc. You can also do this through your VPN, but it’s super easy to do from the DJI website.

Like most countries, DJI has a process. A long checklist of steps to take when launching a drone. Everything from updating certain sections of the website to priming the sales teams to printing and publishing literature to pricing in each region. It's all dependent and there are triggers. If you don't check the USA box, nothing (or mostly nothing) gets triggered and the work is not done; not because the US is being denied but because there's no validity in the process unless the channel is approved. It would be irresponsible of the web team to publish data that hasn't been officially approved whether it is factual or not; at least DJI got that part of it correct being the professional organization they are. If there is overlap, it's built into the system meaning if Canada/US/Mexico were all on the same team, I wouldn't see a reason for leaving out the US. My opinion is I believe the US is blank or incomplete rather than the exception/excluded on purpose. I bet the materials are ready to go just in case they change their mind. Obviously DJI still accepts phone calls from the US, they still activate drones in the US, they still correspond with the FCC, etc....because those aren't US-only functions.

I'm not sure if you pulled the trigger yet, but I'll share my experience

I wanted the Mavic 4 Pro Creator combo and finally settled on the offer from Triplehorse. The drones were being shipped from the City of Industry in California so no issue with customs and tariffs

I also wanted to be sure that I had the dron well in hand before the NDAA dealine on the 23rd

Triplehorse offered 2-3 days shipping. They do not accept returns but they are supposedly covered by EBay's 30-60 day money back guarantee. And their ratings were 100% positive with well over 1000 sales. Their price was a couple hundred more than some of the S Korea/Japan vendors but I considered that 200 a premium for more certainty

I ordered the combo on Monday afternoon at 4:30PM. By 1:30 PM Wednesday, I had the drone; 45 hours after ordering. By 3PM I had taken my first flight and everything worked perfect. The drone cam in original sealed packaging. No issues at all. I recommend them, but the 23rd is approaching fast

they have Mini 5's as well:

triplehorse | eBay Stores

and yes, the RC Pro 2 is a much different controller than the RC Pro. Triplehors sells them as well as you'll see on that page. I believe the RC Pro has a 5.5 inch screen with a maximum of 700 nits sustained brightness. The RC Pro 2 has a peak brightness of 2000 nits and a sustained brightness of 1600 nits. Just after a couple of flights and practicing with the controller, I think it's well worth the expense, but probably only if you have the Mavic 4. I believe the RC Pro 2 supports the Mavic 4, the Air 3 and air 3S, and the Mini 5 pro and Mini 4 pro
