Thanks, should have checked my trusty app, Drone Assist.

Was thinking of bringing my Air 3S for a trip of a lifetime to Las Vegas next year and hitting Utah while there but I’m not one to flout the rules
Red Rock would be a good alternate; certainly not the Canyon, but still very pretty.

Only in America does every individual think they are so interesting that someone with a drone would want to observe them. Sorry, but the American culture sucks. Those in charge are grew up in the Jerry Springer era, it's no wonder our entire country now looks like an episode of Jerry Springer 😉

I would love to go back in time to the 1980s - pre-reality shows and social media. The country really changed after 9/11. Hasn’t been the same since.

Your age in your profile says you are 45. You want to go back to before you were 10? Let's rewind to the 1980s....

No smartphones. MS-DOS was king of the desktop. No Linux. AIDS was a death sentence.

I don't want to go back to a time where people could smoke in restaurants or on airplanes.

We had this thing called the Berlin Wall, and the Cold War was an actual thing.

There was lead in everything: gas, paint, toys, whatever.

You could get fired for being ***. Arrested for a same-sex marriage

Air fare was a lot more expensive, and plane hijacking was still a thing.

FWIW, reality TV didn't really become a thing until the 21st century. We had the Real World in the early '90s, but reality TV as we know it didn't become part of prime time until Survivor came out in the early 2000s. Social Media didn't become mainstream until the mid-2000s.

Yep, I was a child of the 80s. Great time to be alive!

We played with friends outside instead of having our heads buried in smartphones doing Snapchat or making a TikTok.

We could take our bikes to the store without our parents having an anxiety attack that something might happen to us.

No online gaming. Your shared a room with your opponent, side by side.

No “trash TV” like Jerry Springer or the MTV reality shows that rotted people’s brains being labeled as entertainment that started the downward spiral.

We dealt with lead in stuff and lived to tell about it.

Computers were a new thing to households and learning to use such a powerful tool for productivity. So innovative. It was fun to monkey around, learning applications, open up a desktop PC, and also configure settings. Then using that knowledge to teach family. Now we’re stuck with uninspired mainstream operating systems like Windows 10 and 11.

Looking back, were the 80s/early 90s flawless? No. But it seems people just went about their lives happy instead of worrying over every little thing that might affect them negatively. Now we’re polarized by politics on a daily basis and the endless parade of issues that gets media attention. It’s a constant strain on mental health.

All this hindsight makes one wonder what we'll be saying about DJI in 20 years. 🤔

If we go retro, all I ask is that we don't bring back The A-Team, McGyver, and other such drek.

Or VHS tapes.

Carry on. 😁

LOL, well I grew up in the 50's. A portable phone meant you had an extra long cord on it. TV had 3 channels, all of them black and white (in our house). Westerns, soap operas, talent shows, sport and news and on Saturdays, violent but funny cartoons. Take your pick. Radio - static filled am. In the summer, kids might leave the house at 8 am and not come home until dark and no one worried about it. Maybe our folks were hoping something would happen to us? No seat belts, crumple zones, air bags, helmets, we played sports in the street and rode in the back of pickup trucks. If you got hurt, you walked it off, and only the first three places got trophies of any kind.

Interesting if not unsettling take on it. Not sure I agree with his optimism towards the end though and the commentary seems to support that skepticism.

Nobody is going to shut down the 0 to 400-foot-altitude airspace to drones.
You are right!...... BUT they will shut it down to non 107 pilots with a drone that weighs more than the 250 gram limit. and thats not far from happening.

Not sure which bit you mean but he sounds confident about the future of DJI in America here -

If you mean my remark about the commentary, I should have clarified the comments in the section below the video, not his.

I just got done doing a week long photo project that involves a ton of political journalism including some off the record meetings with former heads of state, top level cabinet members.

Let's just say I don't share in his confidence.

Nice. Started seeing adverts for this which is tone deaf and insensitive and inappropriate for a promotion or sweepstakes (I realize this isn't the NPS directly). A commercial plane (obviously a tourist in coach class) with passengers flying low over a National Park or protected area (where people seek peace and quiet and apparently a sanctuary) and with NO DRONES allowed much less an airliner; ran for a week and apparently they changed it up a bit this week:

You know now that I think about this some If you wanted a product off your countries market and knew that an outright ban would face years of hurdles and litigation, Why not just make it too expensive and troublesome for the seller to import their goods . ...No need for a ban.
DJI has NO interest in importing Drones to the U.S. anymore, and has slammed the door shut. Maybe, they will come around and come back BUT I am starting to think that that will never happen!
Looking at what DJI is doing right now, I can see a total Drone blackout in the U.S. from DJI. They are not sending parts to the usual American distributors any longer so we owners will soon be the "hot Rod" shade tree mechanics of the new era.
The regulations here change way to quickly for even a small builder to keep up with and if you did ship a butt load of your drones to America the chances of it being a complete loss to your company are greater than not...... But it gets worse. Even open source drone parts from china are becoming rare and untenable.
We will soon be the only country in the world where Drone ownership can only be achieved if you are AMAZON.,Walmart, or the Government. ( or you already bought in ;)
DJI has NO need to sell Drones here to make money in the U.S. and in fact compared to their other products Drones have probably been more of a problem than a blessing.
I just don't see DJI knocking on our doors any more.
