I have set my M2P for JPEG-RAW saving.
When compared to the JPG the raw DNG pic is very pixelated.
Is this normal?

Are you looking at the image from the SD card? You may be looking at the thumbnail image. File size should be a clue.

I opened the DNG file in Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 and made this pic "pop".
Thanks for the help.

Sounds like whatever viewer is being used doesnt support DNG and is simply reading the thumbnail JPG embedded in the file, not the file itself.

Shred: Happy to hear you figured things out. Odds are, you'll switch to only using DNG files for your photos as they are far and away better than a JPEG.

Right. Jpg is good for quick stuff but learn to edit the “raw”. I use photoshop because I’m used to it. You can do a lot (and easily overdo it). Good luck!

Your viewer is probably showing you the embedded JPEG in the DNG, which is recorded at a dramatically lower resolution. It does this even while reporting that you are looking at the 40MB file, which can be confusing. It's handy for quickly reviewing/culling photos though.

If you open the DNG up in a program like Photoshop you should see everything as you are expecting.
