Last weekend I expanded my fleet of DJI aircraft with the addition of an Air 2s FMC. 😁

Other than initial setup & activation, it's been too cold or windy to take the new AC up for its first flight. Hoping to be able to do that today or tomorrow.
We are expecting some light snow overnight/tomorrow morning, so fingers crossed. šŸ¤ž

I'll probably sell my 2 Phantom 3's (one P3P and one P3S) and keep the fleet at the Air 2s and Mini2.

Nice.

If I was going to upgrade to another DJI drone right now, I'd be more than happy with an Air2s.
Selling the old Phantoms will probably be a hard thing to do, I know I would have trouble parting with the M1P or Spark.

Trouble is even with 2 drones, neither gets the air time they should a lot of the time, balancing 4 drones to keep them 'fresh' and looking after batteries etc would be a lot of work !

When you can get the 2s out, enjoy !

@MAvic_South_Oz ,i can relate to your thread with 3 drones ,and 12 batteries on the go it is difficult to choose which ones to fly
and at this time of year in the UK ,constant, changing weather conditions ,dont make it any easier,
the next drone i purchase will have to be compliant with the new C classifications, so i will be waiting till then to see what is available

Indeed, a fleet of more than 2 requires some effort for batteries and flights with individual drones. I suffer from GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome).

Cheers!

That's my current thinking Dan! I really like the P3's but as said by others, there is a time investment in keeping a larger fleet active. Not quite enough time for me to do that.

One of my P3's is a "frankenstein" that I bought well-used. It has none of the original DJI stickers and has stress cracks under the motors. I have reinforced those cracks with plastic epoxy and metal plates, so it is quite solid and stable. But that one will be a hard sell to anyone.

I DID get to fly late yesterday and will post a video once I can get Resolve to accept the d-log video. šŸ™„šŸ™„šŸ™„

An added "bonus" (for me anyway) it is currently snowing outside...will wait for snow to stop falling in early afternoon, then go up.šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘

"GAS" -- I like that!! Very fitting for multiple reasons.

My "operational" fleet includes 2 P3Ps, but I also have 2 P3Ss that I am in midst of repairing to sell off.

So I suffer from GAS as well. 😩🤣

I've got the Mini 2, the Air 2 and the Air 2s. I was really surprised at how much quicker the Air 2s is compared to the Air 2. Their top speeds are the same but the 2S gains altitude much faster and comes down much faster. The A2s just feels better in flight. More refined.
The Mini 2 is always going to be in the fleet.

I got rid of my Phantom the day I noticed how portable and easy it was to manage the Mavic series of drones 🤣

Yep, makes perfect sense. I am going down that path. My Mini2 has been back & forth @DJI for repair (twice) since mid-January. Its due back today. Once I can confirm it is working as it should, then the P3's will be sold.

Well, maybe I'll keep one P3P. ;)

I bought my Mini 2 about 6 months ago and just recently got the A2S as a retirement gift. From what I can tell, these 2 are all you need in a fleet to do just about every job imaginable for the hobbyist photographer/videographer. Some features I really like on the M2 and other features I like on the A2S. Best of both worlds depending on need, IMO.

Yep..just what I said in my original post. :)After using the A2S for the last 3 weeks, that will definitely be my "go-to" aircraft.

I've had my Mini 2 for over a year and it flies great with the original Smart Controller. I recently got the Air 2S and LOVE it...it is refined and powerful. Now, I'm more likely to do those risky shots out over water with my Mini 2 that I was scared to do when it was my only drone. I'll save my Air 2S for commercial work that I'm starting into now. Love using my FatShark and DJI goggles with my two DJI drones!

Only thing missing is an FPV.

IMO, the ideal Squadron minimum is a DJI FPV, Air 2S w/FMC. Mini 2 is optional if you need to beat the 250g limit for some reason.

You'll fly the FPV when you just want to fly. 2S when you want quality imagery.

Which means you'll fly the FPV most of the time. ;)
