Flight logs. Concerned.

Fair enough, beating the dead horse gets old quick. You have your opinion, and I have mines. :)

Let's hope you are correct and that day never comes where we bi*th and moan about flight logs being used against everyone for fines. I'll leave it at that and value everyone's opinion

Anyone else feel a bit uneasy with dji keeping logs? Just received a update like 2 days ago and now the drone won't fly since there's a baseball game and I'm within the stadium radius ban. The controller asked to put in my phone number and said it will transmit my unit number and then let me fly. Lol. I don't know about this.

The best thing would be not to fly where there’s a TFR in place

Besides, DJI logging our flight logs is not as bad as Amazon Alexa listening to people's conversation at home.

Alexa doesn’t listen to people’s conversations. Security experts have studied Amazon’s Echoes and no data packets are moving in and out of them except when they need to after being activated with the wake word.

everyone gets fines for the smallest infractions like entering a edge of a 5 mile zone or National Park. And not on purpose but by miscalculations.

It’s not illegal for your drone to enter a national park. It’s illegal to take off or land within a national park. You would likely know if you’re in a national park before taking off.

Yep, you are correct about the National Parks. But take a look at this... maybe you haven't coe across it.

Theres lots of articles on this. That's just one. Be aware guys. Don't keep yourselves in the dark expecting thinking it's "paranoia".

Google "Amazon Alexa Listening". Amazon employs people to listen in. Example

According to the article, Amazon employs people to listen to a small fraction of anonymized speech spoken to the Amazon devices. That's very different from the assertion that Amazon is listening in to private conversations.

Still listening, you can cake it anyway. It's listening. And that's what has come out. Imagine what we don't know.

Yes ... DJI doesn't get to see your flight data unless you choose to upload it to their servers.

I suppose you guys forgot about the contract you signed when you made your DJI account and signed into DJI Go 4 for the first time. I know you must have read it because I know everybody spends the time to look over these kinds of things carefully before you agree to them like me. Right? Wait people don’t read these things! Just playing I’m probably the first person to ever read it and I did it just now but let me share some of the highlights

  • User-provided Information.
When you use DJI Products and Services, you may provide us with information about you, including your name, email address, mailing address, mobile phone number, and payment information (if you use DJI Products and Services to engage in purchases or financial transactions). You may provide us with information in various ways when using DJI Products and Services. For example, you provide us with information when you register for a DJI account, use DJI Products and Services, submit credentials or other information for account verification, upload or share photos or videos on or through DJI Products and Services, or send us customer service-related requests using DJI Products and Services or other means of communication.
  • user-provided Information About Others.
We may also collect and store information about other people that you or other users provide to us. If you use DJI Products and Services to send others (friends, relatives, colleagues, etc.) information that may interest them (such as videos or photos hosted on DJI’s SkyPixel video and photograph hosting and sharing service (“SkyPixel”)) or messages (such as invitations to comment on videos or photos, use DJI Products and Services, or participate an event) through DJI Products and Services, we may store information about you and information relating to each such recipient. Similarly, if you use DJI Products and Services to upload, share and/or distribute content, photos, videos, flight data, or other submissions, and such content contains information about others, we may store, process, and disclose that information as provided for under this Policy. Please note, under such circumstances, you should obtain appropriate consent from others and inform them about this Policy.
  • Cookies and Automatically Collected Information.
When you use certain DJI Products and Services, we may send one or more cookies – small text files containing a string of alphanumeric characters – to your device. We may use both session cookies and persistent cookies. A session cookie disappears after you close your browser. A persistent cookie remains after you close your browser and may be used by your browser on subsequent visits to the Service. Please review your web browser “Help” file to learn the proper way to modify your cookie settings. Please note that if you delete or choose not to accept cookies, you may not be able to utilize the features of DJI Products and Services to their fullest potential. We may use third party cookies as well. For instance, we use Google Analytics to collect and process certain analytics data. DJI does not process or respond to web browsers’ “do not track” signals or other similar transmissions that indicate a request to disable online tracking of users who use DJI Products and Services.
  • We may also automatically record certain information from your device by using various types of technology, including “clear gifs” or “web beacons.” This automatically collected information may include your IP address or other device address or ID, web browser and/or device type, the web pages or sites that you visit just before or just after you use a Product or Service, the pages or other content you view or otherwise interact with on a Product or Service, and the dates and times that you visit, access, or use DJI Products and Services. We also may use these technologies to collect information regarding your interaction with email messages, such as whether you opened, clicked on, or forwarded a message. This information is gathered from all users, and may be connected with other information about you.

  • Our use of cookies and other automatically collected information is explained further in our Cookie Policy.
  • Device-Related and Flight-Related Information.
When you use DJI Products and Services, you may provide us with information relating to (i) your DJI Product or Service, your non-DJI device on which the DJI Product or Service is used (including computers, phones, or other devices where you install or access DJI Products and Services), and your photos or videos that you upload using DJI Products and Services. This information may include: (i) information about your non-DJI device (including your device ID, hardware version, and operating system); (ii) information about your DJI device (including the model and serial number of your device); (iii) geolocation data relating to your non-DJI device and DJI device and any photo or video you submitted using DJI Products and Services; (iv) information about any photo or video recorded, including the name of the video file, the length of the video, EXIF data relating to the photo or video; (v) other technical information, including the IP address used by your non-DJI device, and flight data; and (vi) data associated with your DJI account.
  • When you choose to self-authorize or “unlock” flight operations on DJI hardware control applications (including in the DJI Go 3 and DJI Go 4 Apps (the “DJI Go Apps”)) in locations that are categorized by DJI’s Geospatial Environment Online system as raising safety or security issues, we collect and retain geolocation information relating to your decision. In addition to the Device-Related Information described above, some of the features of DJI Products and Services may enable DJI to access your location in order to tailor your experience with the DJI Products and Services based on your location (“Location-based Services”). In order to use certain Location-based Services, you may be required to enable certain features of your mobile phone (such as GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth), which enable DJI to identify your location through a variety of means, including GPS location, IP address, cell tower location, geo-fencing technology, or detection by physical on-location Wi-Fi or Bluetooth sensors. If your location is collected through Wi-Fi or Bluetooth sensors, please be aware that such sensors, and the associated data services, may be provided by a third party, which may access such information for the purpose of providing such data services to DJI.
So in a nut shell DJI doesn’t need you to upload your flight data to know where you are and what you are doing and they don’t even pretend pretend that your flight records are private so I’m not sure where the heck that came from. You don’t need to be connected to the internet during flight for them to get it. At some point you’ll need to connect the device to the internet and then they can retrieve it. You also agreed to share the information about your computer, phone, and anybody to send pictures to.

Having said all this Google already has your life story on a server somewhere (anybody watch Westworld? Kinda like that) and so you can choose to hind from it or you can choose to accept it as part of modern life and move on. But there’s no excuse for being in denial about it.

There's no end to the paranoia and lack of understand in that nonsense.
Look at the privcay agreement for just about anyrthing these days and you'll find similar.
The privacy agreement is pretty standard and does not mean that DJI is collecting your flight data, images and videos.
There's no way for them to get any of that unless you choose to upload your flight data.
Have an incident and try to get warranty service sometime and the first thing DJI will ask for is that you upload the relevant flight data so they can access it.

Who should I believe you or DJI about what data DJI collects and how?

To any intellighent thinking person, that quote is simply legalese for .. this website uses cookies.
But if you want to go full paranoia on it, be my guest.
I absolutely agree.
If I get time, I'm going to look to see if GoPro or Sony's privacy agreement was plagerised......

Wait, intelligent thinking person? Denial is something I tell ya! No way you can go around covering your eyes and ears and claim intelligence. Come off foolish. And it's NOT a personal attack on you but rather a observation. Going over the WHOLE terms with dji, they clearly State there's data collected and can use it as they wish. In a world where data is worth it's weight in gold, it's going to be shared. And when it does, gotta hope it's used fairly and not abused. Ignorance is not a defense.
