New DJI Mini 3 owner, it has been great to compliment my Solar Project. For example, taking a shot of the house every hour over a day identified where to capture morning and evening light. It also identified trees that had to go.

After installation, I'll use it to inspect the panels including looking for bird nests and other debris. At age 75, I don't look forward to climbing a ladder to the roof. But one question about the JPEG files.

I love to see the GPS and altitude components BUT there is no azimuth, which direction the drone is facing. Is there some configuration option to turn this on or do I need a higher class of drone?

Hello from the Crossroads of America bwilson4web.

Nice to meet you Bob. 🤝

Here's a link to the user manual that may be helpful in the future.

Page 50 , item 17 talks about the map in the lower left corner of the flight screen that shows the orientation of the aircraft during the flight.

Once you understand how it works, it is useful.

Here's a video from a few years ago when a change was made in the app that may help.

Hi Bob,

DJI drones record orientation of drone and drone's gimbal into images. Look for "drone-dji" in the image metadata. Here's an example:

<drone-dji:AbsoluteAltitude>-71.65</drone-dji:AbsoluteAltitude>
<drone-dji:RelativeAltitude>+51.30</drone-dji:RelativeAltitude>
<drone-dji:GimbalRollDegree>-0.00</drone-dji:GimbalRollDegree>
<drone-dji:GimbalYawDegree>+73.84</drone-dji:GimbalYawDegree>
<drone-dji:GimbalPitchDegree>+0.27</drone-dji:GimbalPitchDegree>
<drone-dji:FlightRollDegree>+4.00</drone-dji:FlightRollDegree>
<drone-dji:FlightYawDegree>+47.50</drone-dji:FlightYawDegree>
<drone-dji:FlightPitchDegree>+4.00</drone-dji:FlightPitchDegree>
<drone-dji:CamReverse>0</drone-dji:CamReverse>
<drone-dji:GimbalReverse>0</drone-dji:GimbalReverse>

Welcome to the Forum I was stationed at Redstone for about a year. Nice place.

Hey, I'm not far from you in Middle Tennessee. And I was just in Huntsville a couple of weeks ago. Sure love Rosie's Mexican food.

You may want to explore waypoints. I'm pretty new to them, but noticed on my Mavic 3 Pro that the info you're wanting is included with each waypoint. If you could set waypoints, then offload them to your PC, you might have what you want.

Happy Flying!
