Gray Whales in the Surf at Newport Beach

Definitely not my best flying ever, and not the best conditions for filming (fog was rolling in, sun was nowhere to be seen, little windy). Also, iphone 6 plus battery decided to drain at a record pace. Had to swap SD card half way through filming because I forgot to clean the card. But at the end of it I got some cool footage.

These 2 whales were literally in the surf zone, right off the beach. They hung out there for well over an hour.

Glad you got to have that experience and get some cool footage especially that close to shore. I was fortunate enough to be able to video humpback whales this year although it felt like looking for a needle in a haystack filming over a mile out to sea..
