Have you tested the drone delivery app yet?

All moot now. UPS is in an experimental program approved already by the government... they are using large drones that belong to them.
The UPS instance is a special case and quite different.
It's one drone operator, one client and one site for high-value items.
It's probably the first drone delivery project I've seen that makes sense (unless you were just wanting publicity).

There is...

A change in line of sight regulations is right on the horizon, and this means drone delivery is coming soon. It’s potentially thousands of drone pilots on the Zing network vs the tech monopolies. Only time will tell who the market chooses to give their money to.
This fell out of the south end of a northbound bull.

Where possible the drone will pickup from the vendor but, for all of the reasons repeated over and over again in this thread, widespread Drone delivery involving everyday consumer goods such as fast food, is simply not on the practical radar.

So long as the “investors” who threw money at this thing are happy to wait a long time before realising any sort of ROI, then it’s all good.
You need to show a little more imagination here. The Australian trial is very close to commercial realisation now. All they need is final CASA sign off which it seems likely they will get as they are, as part of the process, working directly with Wing on a UAS airspace management solution.

It’s interesting to learn that that Environmental protection Authority hasn’t placed a limit on permissible drone noise limits. That won’t make the community opposition groups very happy.

“The FAA confirmed in a statement Monday that it hadn’t previously allowed drones to make routine commercial package deliveries, known as revenue flights. Others have flown drone deliveries as part of smaller-scale tests or demonstrations.”

Sounds like a major leap forward to me! Drone deliveries are right on the horizon.

There's been a similar one here running for a couple of years already, to carry medical supplies between the 2 buildings of a hospital that are located either side of a busy city center, 5mins by drone but 30-60mins by car. But there are dedicated crews and platforms on either side and not your crowded street with untrained random people, flights are relatively rare (a few per day), and they still had to halt operations becasuse of noise complaints.

Yeah well, I have to admit that the situation in Canberra is looking like a milestone of sorts but it's an embryo. No one is going to be successful with this Drone Delivery thing unless they can get big quickly like UberEats and Deliveroo - these guys literally saturated the market in record time with a ready army of suckers happy (well almost happy) to earn peanuts working long hours.

There were no barriers such as substantial public opposition or environmental or safety-related issues in the way - they just got on their motor scooters and delivered the pizzas. Even at the beginning before they really got going there wasn't anything substantial in terms of opposition.

Compare that to the road ahead for widespread Drone Delivery in the suburbs, and I'm talking about the sort of penetration that can rival that of the incumbent platforms. Sure, the same companies are in this game but they are playing it simply to see what eventuates. If it ends up not having the legs to impress their shareholders then it's all over red rover.
