Welcome to the club!

I'm in the East Bay as well. And I run into the same issue.
However, there are a few places that are pretty cool to fly in here.

1) Check out the Benecia Pier. It's my favorite. There is so much to view there. Including the Amtrak line and bridges.
And nothing to hit!

2) The marina in Martinez. It's also very spacious. With great views of Amtrak as well.

3) Mount Diablo! You can spot it anywhere from Concord, Walnut Creek, Alamo, Danville, etc.
