During a longer trip in frosty weather it is important to keep the lithium batteries at or above 15 degrees of Celsius for optimal performance. One battery may be kept under the garments. For longer stays, overnight stays and with more batteries, it is possible to use firewood and water. All that is needed is an insulated box and an appropriate flask.

Just as important; keep the batteries in the RC & monitor warm too.

Neat idea for overnight trips off the grid.

For short trips, I use my pant and coat pockets as you have mentioned. For longer day trips (snowmobiling, Nordic skiing, or ice fishing) I use my Turnigy battery warmer powering it with a 2 cell lipo.
