Hello All!

I have not posted in several months because of this trip.

I am proud to present this 16 minute video (plus end credits) of my Photographic Workshop in Kyrgystan, operated by Visionary Wild, \amazingly well by professional photographers, Justin Black and Jerry Dodrill.

The video includes multiple media sources, including the Nikon Z8 mirrorless camera, DJI Mavic 3 drone, DJI Pocket 3, and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Preceding our meeting up with the group of 4 other photographers (for a teaching ratio of more than 3:1) , we flew from Miami to Istanbul,Turkey via London, and after two days rest, onward to the capital of Kyrgystan, which is Bishkek. We had two free days in Bishkek before the tour began.

Our 4 car convoy traveled the rough roads of Kyrgystan, with stays 5 nights in tents, 5 nights in yurts, and several "lodges." The latter were rather crude structures but did have indoor plumbing. Electricity for charging devices was available by car chargers, and at all yurts, and lodges but not in tented camps.

The video was created from 1.37 GB of data from all of the above devices. All images were processed with Adobe Photoshop , and several plugs-ins including NIK software and Topaz Denoise AI. The video was created by Adobe Premiere Pro. Five weeks was spent producing this 16 minute film. Please enjoy! Please view in full screen by clicking the 4 arrows lower right corner. All comments always welcomed.

Many thanks for that review. Yes,The editing was massive. I sat at the computer daily from after breakfast through to dinner-time, or more for 2 weeks. I left about 30% of my assets (material I had intended to use) on the "cutting room floor," for the sake of brevity.

Thanks for sharing. Interesting to see a detailed look of a part of the world that many people might not see.
Thanks Nanny.

When I viewed this trip on the website, I knew I had to go there, especially since it was being led by a well known and prominent photographer (Justin Black). It was a very rough trip for me and my wife. We are both getting along in years and this was probably the las big trip we'll do. I've never seen a more beautiful country and I've traveled extensively.

I would love to have seen more video than slide shows made into a video. Even the photos are not all that great. This is not as good as your usual work IMHO

The actual slides are more hi Rez. I reduced the resolution of the slides to KB rather than MB to speed up the production. Even though my iMAC has 16 RAM it was slow in responding. I really needed 32GB which I will get for my next iMAC. Examples can be seen on my web site. If you want to see a lot more, click here. If you view the web site, please let me know if you still feel that way.

Great video. Thanks for sharing.

Dale, we are close to the same age. I am amazed at your photography. The variety from Montana, Florida, Africa and now Russia is so very interesting to me. This latest video has shown me an part of this wonderful world that I will never see otherwise. It is so sad to think that some people are so intent on killing each other. The shots of local people and shops was a real eye candy. My wife watched your video with me, which is rare since she is not a photographer. I even left the sound on for the entire video. I usually turn the sound off because, for me, it often distracts from the video. Thanks for sharing with us and I realize somewhat the courage and fortitude and skill it has taken to bring this to the rest of us.

Thanks for this kind note.It is letters like yours that gratify and encourage me.

I play tennis 3 days a week with two 90 year olds. We have a pretty lively game. I am thankful to be able to pull off such an outrageous trip and my wife, who went reluctantly, loved it but is was not easy- in fact it was a very rough for us. The last part of the trip involved 2 nights camping on the glacier that the video showed at the end. We did not do that at the request of the trip leader, and I am thrilled that he prevented me from having to spend 48 hours at 28,000 feet in the bitter cold. I will be 86 September so I value every singe minute on earth .

On Monday I am leaving for a 3 day astro photography workshop in Moab, Utah.

What a beautiful country Dale. I'm glad you and Mrs D enjoyed your trip. I like that you mixed the scenery with daily lives of the citizens you were able to interact with. Really good work!

When I think of a vacation I think of the Ocean and beach but you took us to the Beginning of an adventure that morphed into a Magical Journey an thu your video an pictures made me feel the Essence of this place. WOW !

Now I have to ask my family if they want to go to Virginia Beach for Vacation or follow Dale into the never-ever land. Just Outstanding.

Thank you for your nice words PropWash! It was a really tough trip, with toilets sometimes a 50 yd walk in the rain and no real roads once we left the city. I've never seen more beautiful scenery in my life.

You misunderstood. A slide show within a video doesn't make for a good video. One of my favorite still however, was the one below and unfortunately it wasn't taken by you.

I can understand your viewpoint but it is a way for me to show both video and stills in the same presentation. I have evolved to this after years of boring slide shows. When I got into drones and video, I was forced to alter my presentations. The majority of people I send this to as well as the majority (in fact ALL) of the respondents on this forum seem to like it. By the way, the images loaned to me were attributed to the proper person, and I couldn't take them because I was sick in the tent on the date of this event on our trip.
