I wouldnt say the Batteries are more prone to fire, I would say that the mistakes made while charging these batteries causes fires. Lipo fires usually happen when the battery is charged with the wrong setting.You make it sound like LiPo batteries are more prone to catching fire.

The advantage of Lithium battery technology is the fairly straight discharge from full to zero. And the ability to juice the battery down to zero with near full output.
