a Pfco is needed if you want to fly for reward it stands for permission for commercial operations and requires you to learn how to keep logs of all your flight and produce a written plan of how you intend to go about your business you also need insurance cover

Hi MK,

My course has been online so far, as the original Ground School was cancelled due to the lockdown, and the team at Heliguy adapted it to be online. I have now done all the Ground School stuff and passed the relevant exams. Just the practical flight assessment to go.

No books required as it can all be done online - well at least through the company I have used.

The recommended flying time before taking the practical is about 30 hours if I remember correctly. There are a number of different techniques you have to be able to complete to pass. It’s a bit like a driving test.

In terms of cost, I think they are offering the course for about £700 (but don’t quote me on that).

Once passed, I can then undertake work for commercial purposes as well as be able to fly closer to people/buildings etc.

Depending on what you are looking to achieve with your drone it’s certainly worth thinking about.

Happy flying, and I’m sure that 6 minutes will soon become 6 hours.

Regards,
Sully
