Marco Polo Ultralight vs. Advanced waterproof transceiver questions

I need to decide which one to buy. The battery life is the same so that indicates the Advanced transceiver is the same as the Ultralight just in the waterproof plastic case. Anyone put their hands on the Advanced waterproof transceiver? I wondering if the plastic case opens up allowing the transceiver to be removed? That way I could use the waterproof case for my dog and just the transceiver for my MPP.
