Mavic 4 not available to US !

Why waste your time, B&H is NOT going to get any shipped to them, it wont' be long until we won't be able to get anything from DJI.
I agree Amazon and maybe Best Buy and a few others will get them before BH. To me, BH seems to be doing what Amazon said they would do earlier they wanted to show tariff pricing.

I loaded my cart because I wanted to see how much sales tax.

I wouldn't even count on DJI being around much longer, unless someone buys them out and moves them out of China before they collapse.
I’m not following your logic. Why would DJI collapse just because they aren’t selling their latest drone in the US? They sell their drones all over the world!

I didn't say it was a failed launch, I said spoiled launch. What if Trump lifts all tariffs tomorrow and no issues at customs, guess what? DJI is in a pickle because they wouldn't be ready. At a minimum they need to make a statement so one of their biggest markets can react properly. If DJI is in the dark, why keep customers in the dark as well? They've had plenty of time to make up their mind about certain things and if it's just a day or two on tariffs, they should have launched in the US at regular prices and ate a few days of tariffs or work in a few delays. If it's customs, they should have worked those out with the US government by now, how long has it been? Not saying it's their fault but DJI can't count this as a successful, perfect launch. They can't even answer the question if the Mavic 4 Pro will *ever* be launched in American one day in the future, can they? Yet they sent drones to YTers for review. I get it they have to be careful what they say but they could have gotten creative on this one, it's not like they didn't have time to figure it out. Maybe they're working on a different kit for the US market. I would have created a large, elaborate pre-order scheme for US customers with special pricing and a big coming soon sign rather than a big fat no-show.
What you just described is a company trying to deal with a country that is in the beginning stages of a historically high degree of social, political and economic instability. These companies literally do not know what the hell to do!

None of my friends who run business overseas do either, one said planning and adapting to it is like trying to get your blood drawn by a 6 year old nurse having a seizure. This is way beyond drones, this serious stuff.

You kind of answered your own question. There is no basis in fact for the reasons given to hold the products at customs. DJI has presented their case. What would you expect them to do at this point?

You mean like the leadership openly accepting bribes from foreign actors? Acting against the ruling of the highest court in the land? Disappearing folks to third world countries in the middle of the night? Ignoring all standards and norms established over decades? Alienating allies and partnerships we created which have benefited us the most?

A fact sheet from the White House website!!?? 😂😂😂 That's about as dependable as an I.O.U. from a crack head.
Feel free to check your preferred news outlet and you'll indeed see both China and the US are planning to reduce tariffs tomorrow by 115%. While you may enjoy the delivery more, those agreed upon numbers won't change if you decide to have someone else relay what they think they read on the White House website.

That may not solve all of life's problems, but I doubt you'll find any American who is upset by this change. And since DJI hasn't shipped any Mavic 4 Pros to the US yet, the previous tariffs won't apply to those future shipments. So this "return to normal" timeline you mentioned likely won't be in play here.

Instead of shifting the conversation into an unrelated political debate, maybe take a moment to appreciate this small win that could have a real impact on your finances going forward.

Last weekend during talks, I would have insisted the embargo be lifted on DJI drones at least at the customer, non-governmental level.

Well said.

It's 90 days at 30% which adds quite a bit to the price of what we are all talking about here. It's not a win as much as it is a safe landing place while either side decides what the future holds. So that means the uncertainty is still as strong as ever.

You want to know what uncertainty looks like? Here:

Eco Scale-2.jpg

So that means hiring freezes are still in place, layoffs are still occurring as companies seek to become more nimble and disposable income is being held onto instead of being spent in the economy. "He" has already said that if China does not agree to a trade deal within the 90 day window, tariffs will go back up "Substantially higher" although likely not as high as 145%.

In general, human beings and other animals for that matter do not like uncertainty, it spooks them into retraction, retreat, avoidance and caution.

I think the best those in the country in question can hope for with the Mavic 4 is a much higher price tag than the rest of the world pays when and if DJI can even manage to get product through customs. But I have my doubts the drone will even make it here due to the uncertainty of a 90 day window.

One thing I've learned in this life is that nothing is certain. It doesn't matter which country you're from or whether it's during times you personally consider to be bad or good.

I suspect that if DJI have decided not to sell it to America it'll be in the firmware that they can't take off in US territory, thereby rendering attempts to get them in from elsewhere somewhat futile, or at least a serious PITA to circumvent.
I doubt they will do that. If a photographer from Europe comes here to work with their drone, I they expect it to function.

I don't think they would do it either; perhaps reject a US activation at most but maybe not even that.

My thinking is what happens when the embargo is over and all those "drone can't be flown in the US because still on older software" are still out there.

Both Amazon and Best Buy no longer sell DJI drones since the Neo so why would your post be accurate to say B&H will not be getting them?

No one here (including me) knows for sure if and when any of the US retailers will ever get drones or not or who's still in the DJI business or not; all speculation at this point.

The DJI Store in NYC sold a few today. This is 100% accurate but not sure how many.

DJI not releasing a Mac 4 Pro drone in the U.S. is giving them more publicity and creating more chatter than had they launched a drone here. Clever marketing.

Long, weird as hell day. I set my alarm with my credit card on my nightstand ready to go and came up empty handed.

Would the new MP4 be a game changer for me? I guess it all depends on the game I am playing that day, some days yes, others not as much.

I still want the **** thing but I am not going to be able to get it any time soon so it appears. My MP3 with 6 batteries is a solid platform, I will continue to do a lot with it for now.

So I am out for now, back to work and back to hauling my self and my gear deep into remote wilderness.

Until things change, I bid you all happy contrails for now.

My feelings are the same. I'm not gonna beg a company to sell me a $4K piece of equipment. It's one thing to not sell in US but then to not honor warranty if you get one elsewhere is CRAP. I get gray market and why companies do that but in this case the product isn't available here.
