I'm familiar with rule 13, I guess I'm not familiar with your definition of "politics" then. Or maybe I didn't see the posts you had to delete. Talking about countries and policies in a global economy or geopolitical manner, is pretty much impossible not to do when they are directly tied to the issue at hand, which is the U.S. not being able to purchase certain DJI products. I mean DJI mavics are still at the heart of the discussion, and the comments I've seen.

I'm not trying to be sarcastic, seriously, I don't plan to, or want to, break any of the rules, I know they exist for a reason, I guess I'm just asking for clarification, so I know where I need to re-word, or phrase something differently, thank you.

Pretty sure discussing the fantasy about the demise of society, the downfall of China as a country, and the end of DJI as a company in the next 5 - 10 years is politics.

Oh, just about every single developed nation on the planet is seen as a better trading partner than the U.S. right now. We actually started building out our manufacturing infrastructure about 4-5yrs ago because of China's impeding collapse, much of it fueled by investors jumping ship from a sinking China. But since the orange man came into office like a bull in a China shop (pun intended...lol), those investors have jumped ship from the U.S. too and are looking elsewhere.

I get it. But the harm done to the US by the current "strategy" is not likely to be transitory. Our trading partners now fully understand how vulnerable they are by relying on the global trading system mostly controlled by the US when the US looses it's way. Therefore, China is looking better to them all the time. Not as a social society, but as a trading partner.

And, I don't agree that the US has approached the level of current Chinese manufacturing in most cases. It will take decades for that to happen. My opinion

That timeframe, is possibly too generous. And somewhat unfortunate in several ways.
For many years, whatever I purchased, I always tried to buy US made products.
Had to give that effort up many years ago.
Same with spending money in my general area. Too many times the product wasn’t available but could be delivered in a few days via the all powerful internet.
I have succumbed to progress!

Funny you say this. If you do some googling, you will find that global perception is shifting in regards that China is seen as a more reliable trading partner than the US after all of this chaos. Kind of tough to get your mind around.

you are correct ,the trade deals Australia is signing ATM are 20-25 yar deals ,but not with the U.S. You guys are a bit too volatile ATM

I'd be more careful with openly flaunting a bunch of successful long-term trade deals with China during a time when US is being challenged. Know who your friends are. Your country might get a "letter in the mail" and of course, everything else outside of trade about the relationship between 2 countries is also on the table.

the 30% China Tariff is to last till the end of 2025 so there will most likely never be a price drop this year. So we end up paying about $500 extra for this drone.

the creative bundle would had sold for about $3850 or a little more so $800 more at the most is my guess. ($4650 at B&H tax free credit card deal)

I wouldn't fight it, just hang tight and it will probably pass. I think you'll find most European countries are not raising a fuss because they know it will pass and if they just lay low, it will be over soon and back to business. If you fight it (aka Canada) then you end up with a big headache. No one should be cozying up to China picking sides against the US during these times, just don't get involved in the stupidity. MYOB is my advice. I would pass on the reciprocal tariffs, let it implode.

It wasn't China that ignored all existing trade agreements and slapped every country in the world (except Russia and North Korea) with punitive tariffs.
Even countries that the US had a trade surplus with and a free trade agreement got hit.

No, you should not just sit and take it. The country in question is a bully and is clearly “on the spectrum” geopolitically speaking.

You want to distance your self as much as possible from that bully because it is on a near irreversible path of self implosion that will ultimately lead to its total collapse. Canada is doing great in this regard from its newly elected leadership to its grass roots and citizen level outright rejection of products made by its neighbor to the South.

The world needs countries who want to make the world a better place, as resilient as possible in the face of the challenges we all collectively face. Countries who only want to serve their own needs should be soundly rejected.

But again the drone is not available in the US so why do they care if you buy it somewhere else don’t they wanna make the sale? I understand the gray market principle if you’re selling something in the territory, but they’re not selling it in the US.

I think DJI is avoiding creating a market in the U.S. with drones purchased elsewhere. They don’t want the responsibility for supporting a product in a market/country they did not intend to enter in the first place. So I get it from DJI’s perspective. Support resources cost a company time and money.

Living close to Canada, I find it interesting that dji has the Creator Combo listed for $4,809 Canadian, which equates to $3,442.65 US. B&H is taking orders at $4,649 - $1,206.35 more, so must be figuring in tariffs.

Most likely. They had that pre-order pricing in place before the tariff was reduced to 30%.

It's pretty difficult for retailers to set a price when it changes dramatically almost daily. Who can blame them if they price in the the worst case scenario.

The only thing dramatic here is the notion that the US tariff on imports from China is fluctuating wildly on a daily basis.

That said, I'm not blaming B&H at all. I'm simply noting that their current Mavic 4 Pro pricing likely reflects the possibility of having to absorb costs associated with a 145% tariff. The existing 30% tariff wouldn't come close to justifying such significantly inflated prices.
