I was flying my MP tonight, still trying to learn all of its features, and I was flying around 250' over a large, developed neighborhood. About every 15 seconds a warning would pop up on my phone/app telling me it had avoided something and to change or check my flight path. There was literally nothing around, nothing in front or behind - just wide open air. It was not dark, but approaching twilight. Does that do something to those forward sensors?
thanks

The usual explanation for that behaviour is that the drone identified a low, bright sun as an obstacle.
If you notice it again, note where the sun is and if turning to face another angle fixes it.

That's a good reply, and I appreciate it, but the sun was behind a small mountain range from where I was and at my height I was nowhere near above the peak of that range. So I couldn't see the sun - well, the MP couldn't! I was also going about due north at the time. And it also happened when I was going in the opposite direction from the setting sun (again, behind geographic wall). I've never had this happen before.

If you are flying high up away from obstacles, turn obstacle avoidance off and enjoy the extra speed

You could recalibrate the sensors in the DJI Assistant app.

I’ve had similar. When I landed the drone was covered in red splats, so assuming insects. I have noticed that for some reason flies seem to be attracted to my drone.

I should check that out. Maybe being darker and the lights on it did attract some. Also other suggestion to turn them off is what I was thinking when flying, but couldn’t remember how to! I’ll have to look that up.

My MP2 will have issues if there is a lot of insect activity in the evenings or early morning hours and also found that the sun reflecting of any reflectable surface such as water or windows will trigger a response from the sensors as well on occasion. My problem is that response I'm getting an insect, reflection, or obstacle that I can not see because of the lower light? I will not fly that time of day unless I have flown during the day and know the area and feel comfortable that there is not hidden obstacles that I am unaware. Although have flown in Texas and New Mexico and there are some flying bugs that can do damage to my drone if it hit head on. Just saying......

Insect parts or even fingerprints on sensors seem to cause false warnings.
Part of my preflight check is cleaning sensors ( and postflight)
