Mini 5 Pro is Broadcasting RID with ALL Batteries, Including the Mini 5 Pro Standard Battery

Earlier today I was flying among other drones and I wondered if anyone could see me. We were in class G so there is no LAANC. How does RID help other pilots become aware of my presence unless they visually see me or they have one of those fancy RID detectors?

I never fly anywhere without Drone Detector running on an old Galaxy android phone. Hardly a "fancy RID detector". I've had people come find me based on the RID signals I produce, which was beneficial to me in both cases.

You have to remember who their target market is. People who just want to fly their drones and not worry them being exposed to the environment.

We also need to remember that the US is no longer a target market for this (or any DJI drone), so their interest in spending much time and effort meeting the needs of US customers is similarly diminished.

No longer a target in the current environment. That could change and they can always re-enter the market should DJI reach an accomodation with the government or the paranoia goes away.

No argument. I hope this will change. Doesn't look good at the moment, though, with the NDAA audit deadline 2 months away and no apparent interest by the Fed to relieve DJI products.

Opinion, of course, but I doubt DJI is motivated much to address the RID situation for the few dozen (hundred?) Mini 5 Pro customers in the US. The casual, ham-handed way it was handled in documentation seems consistent with this.

Haha its a **** hoverair and they are forcing rid now! I doubt any commercial pilots use them for that. Dumb on them also. Yeap more rec pilots but they force commercial liscense stuff on the rec guys. Commercials should just keep using a module! Looks like they are getting paid by someone to do this.

The primary reason behind RID is airspace management and collision avoidance in the future when a large number of commercial autonomous flights is expected.

It was not developed with the driving purpose to monitor recreational and p107 operators.

You can argue whether or not that was the driving purpose, but a stated goal of RID was to identify drones and their pilots.

Remote ID also helps the FAA, law enforcement, and other federal agencies locate the control station when a drone appears to be flying in an unsafe manner or where it is not allowed to fly.

Yes, of course. Is that a problem? Seems to be for some here.

If you're operating within the rules and in a safe manner, you've got nothing to worry about. Including private parties using RID to find drone operators. The fears about Karens and thieves simply have not materialized.

As for being able to identify and find pilots breaking the law and causing real safety issues, count me in as one in favor of it. I don't understand the rationale for anonymity any more than I do a person flying a Cessna 152 around for fun.
