I've been on a jumplane many times when there's traffic below us. We do check it before jumping out. But with wingsuit freefall flight time of ~3 minutes and range of several miles, it obviously doesn't always work.
Wow, to me that is incredible that a known potential tragedy could be allowed to continue without some redress.
Surely the operators of the skydiving company / group and local airfield operators could get together and work out some sort of protocol to check when skydives are happening ?
I'm surprised FAA doesn't have something in policy about flying in DZs.
