New importing costs

Bring them on.
I'm one of the few who decided to not get addicted to that dirt water.
Ha. I can’t have caffeine anymore, but I like coffee so much. I have expensive beans shipped to me and I’m a retired teacher not some rich guy. Stupidest thing ever to pay money for flavored water.

Not nearly as stupid as paying money for slender white things that you burn up and get lung cancer from.

You guys are all way off base. Tariffs are not going to cost anyone, anything because the country importing the product is going to pay them!

(Just like Mexico is paying for the wall.)
That's exactly the issue. Tariffs are borne by the importer aka import duty as its called in other countries. The seller, in some cases, particularly vehicles, has an option to reduce his export price to soften the blow of tariffs paid by the importer and ultimately the consumer. The tariffs/import duties paid by the importer in the USA goes to the FEDS. At the end of the day one needs to look at the final price of the imported item; i.e export cost/import cost (price charged by exporting country/landed cost here in the USA); to that add tariff for the item-category as declared by the US Government, paid by the importer in USA to the FEDS, plus local taxes if any.
CHINA/JAPAN/Any country is not paying tariff on the items they export to USA, the USA importer is hence making the item more expensive to the end consumer, assuming the exporters price plus tariff paid by the importer is more than what it previously was.

Other countries may have or have also increased or set a tariff (aka import duties) on good they import from the USA hence making the same item more expensive to the consumers in the respective countries who are charging the same.

I'm not condoning any tariffs but the argument raised by DT and reason for tariffs on imports from countries is based on apparent trade imbalances.
Besides: Say we (USA) were importing wines from Europe at 0% tariff. USA exporters of wines to Europe have European tariiff applied in their country on wines imported from the USA to protect their own wine industry. Similar tariffs are levied by dozens of countries on goods imported from the USA. This is what got DT worked up; at the end of the day it is the end customer/consumer whos paying the price of tariff wars. How does tariff added here on say goods from China affect China? Say there was zero tariff on furniture imported into the USA from China, now has 25% (or whatever) tariff added here, hence increasing cost of the same furniture by 25% plus add local taxes etc. The result is local buyers here, stop buying furniture imported from China, importers reduce or cut their orders; Chinese workers in Chinese factories are laid off due to lack of exports.

The above are simply examples; most of us may be aware however a few are not.

The good news is that the completely unbias SCOTUS is going to fast track the appeal on the tariff issue and will hold an hour for arguments sometime in NOVEMBER.

So, I wonder...

What if you buy something used from another country?
I think you can get away with lowering the value on something used but as you know, even used cars have sales tax....over and over and over no matter how many times [re]sold and every time something passes thru customs, the tariff is assigned and the clock starts over again.
