New Jersey Drone Sightings May Not Be Drones. By Professor Will Austin.

When the federal government fails to explain what they are doing and why, just like they have here, it may lead to speculation and panic.
There are many people who genuinely believe the Earth is flat, that all of the photos taken from space showing the Earth as a spherical globe are obvious fakes, and that the government is actively engaged in a conspiracy to hide this "truth" from the public because, you know, that somehow makes more sense than science.

The government has never felt obliged to explain what they are doing to solve this supposed Flat Earth vs Globe crisis. The conspiracy types speculate that this somehow proves the government is hiding the actual truth, while the scientists just dismiss the flat-Earthers as completely bonkers.

The government doesn't care either way, as long as someone continues to vote for them.

So now we have everyone posting videos and photos of mysterious flashing lights in the night sky, which look and sound exactly like normal aircraft or even stars, leading to speculation, mass panic, and media hysteria.

The conspiracy theorists insist these are not airplanes or stars, but are "UFO drones" from Iran or outer space or government drones hunting for missing nuclear material because, you know, that somehow makes far more sense than them just being normal aircraft. The scientists, again, think people are completely bonkers.

The government feels no obligation to explain what they're doing, because, as usual, they're baffled and aren't actually doing anything. You're all seeing every-day normal aircraft, and you're all completely bonkers! What's the fuss?

The government is just happy that the bonkers general public, who apparently will believe anything at all, actually voted to re-elect the same bonkers congress woman who once stated that forest fires are started by "Jewish space lasers", and that hurricanes can be deliberately steered to demolish only Republican States.

Instead of asking why the government is actively hiding their involvement with these "drones", you should be asking why all the media is reporting a drone invasion while constantly showing you pictures of perfectly normal aircraft.

Completely bonkers!

I'm teasing of course, but, every picture I've seen was in a book or a TV screen and it was flat. 😉

Haven't made it to outerspace yet to see for myself.

The globe of Earth in my office is definitely a fake. :D

I understand and respect what you say here. This could be a mass hysteria event. That is what the federal government is telling us. But, something does not add up to me. I put weight on the eyewitness observations of New Jersey state and local officials and law enforcement. This why I think one way or another, this is a big story that will likely have a big impact on public perception and legal regulation of drones flown by law enforcement, commercial operators, hobbyists, and everyone else.

Don't forget the triangle-shaped UFOs that had been reported for 10 years or so.

Now we see gen6 fighter jets with a similar appearance.

And there is your assumption that fails the credibility and due diligence test. People, in general, are very lousy observers. Tests have shown people, in general, will say things that are completely erroneous even when it matters. One study was of witnesses to a murder: people were an audience to a stage play and a man walks in from the back to the stage, shoots a person on the stage, then slowly walks back out the way he came in, in full view of the audience. People couldn't even get the color of the shooters jacket right. Lights were on and auditorium fully lit.

The current Gen 6 and even more secret scramjets generally aren't flown around places where people can see them.

The cigar shaped UFO's of the 50's fit folk seeing a U-2 in flight. The 80's-90's discs and triangles were probably F-117's being staged at bases around the world, the shape depending on the point of view people saw them. Disc when seeing them face on (imagination makes then "round with hump") and when looking up at them the triangle. Add the B2, which is a much larger ...

I remember the one time I saw one of these flying low around Puget Sound I assume from Ft. Lewis/McChord AFB. For a brief moment I felt a big charge of excitement like OMG it is happening! My first UFO encounter in broad daylight! So I pulled the car over to see better and quickly realized its the new stealth fighter. It was still an awe inspiring sight.

The point is the military does not need to disclose everything.

While I agree with much of what you posted, there's one thing I disagree about. While I'm certain that many of the sightings people are reporting are actually crewed aircraft or even stars, there is NO doubt in my mind that there are also some drones. Sometimes drones flying in groups.

Something is going on. For all I know it's the "New Jersey Drone Club" and they decided to get together fly their drones at night just to drive people crazy. But something is going on involving drones.

While this FAA video is ok and timely, I can't help but to think the FAA is trolling a bit. I think everybody knows airplanes and helicopters have lights and they blink and it a requirement. Everyone has seen that and it's silly to think that would be new for most people who "haven't looked up in the sky lately."

For the FAA to throw drones into the mix is a bit disingenuous. Why? My thoughts and personal opinions only so YMMV pardon me because I took some liberties on a few of these:

  • Drones are not required to have the strobe lights in order to be manufactured and sold and flow (i.e. there is no sw block).
  • Drones are only required to have strobe lights when flying at night and since most drone pilots either don't know this or don't care or honestly believe the OEM lights are sufficient, it is rare that you would see a drone with strobe lights configured like an aircraft....exceeding rare unless you are someone like me who enjoys this sort of things and have dozens of different strobe lights and mounts.
  • The OEM status lights built into the drone usually do not qualify for the regulations and if they do, they don't usually shine in all the different patterns and colors and in the standard configuration. You would easily be able to tell a drone which has had aftermarket strobes added as opposed to the status lights.
  • If aftermarket market strobe lights are added, I find it very hard to believe that dozens of hobby drone pilots all decided to mount their strobes in the same fashion (i.e. wingtips, front, back). From what I've seen, hobby drone pilots like to mount strobes on top, underneath, on an arm or leg, all over the drone. If 20 hobby drones fly by, not more than 2 would look alike. How it is possible to see so many drones configured in the same fashion?
  • Many drone pilots believe the lighting interferes with camera so it makes no sense to believe the majority of drones are well lit. Usually there's a switch and if so, they'll probably use it to turn OFF the lighting.
  • Most aftermarket strobe lights (until lately) have been white or single color and I believe the majority of drone pilots who buy strobes to satisfy the requirement will either buy one white strobe or maybe an additional color but all colors don't make sense for the casual drone flyer. Seems to me blue is the newest color and if you are a hobby pilot, you might choose blue (which you typically don't find on commercial aircraft) because it is cool yet for some reason, not a single hobby drone I saw chose blue?
  • Ultimately when mounted, most flyers choose the top of the drone based on the thinking they need to be visible from above....not from below.
  • Most recreational pilots believe it isn't legal to fly at night and until recently, the sentiment was pretty prevalent. It continues to be true that recreational pilots cannot gain automatic LAANC after dark and since the vast majority of drone pilots are recreational and hate to travel far at the late hours just to fly, it just doesn't make sense that a bunch of drones are in the sky flashing strobes in controlled airspace. Unless they are all doing commercial business up there, I guess.
  • Since the qualified strobe is an aftermarket purchase, the drone pilot either has a strobe already or will go buy one shortly after getting the drone...most likely. Highly highly unlikely all these drone pilots decided to go buy a strobe last month so they can legally go flying and chasing UAPs which means you are likely to see them fly without the strobe; my point is there's no way you would see so so many of these hobby drones searching the sky at night while properly lit and all of a sudden in compliance. Most pilots don't follow the rules and most don't have the equipment handy so what I am trying to say is compliance didn't just go thru the roof in the last month all of a sudden, Firehouse and ViFly didn't sell a boatload of strobes last month (I don't think) due to this new demand and I find it hard to believe drone pilots who wanted to fly changed their mind and remained grounded because they didn't have the strobes already.
  • For the recreational pilot, strobe lights are not 100% mandatory since I believe the "regulation" is based upon the safety determination from the pilot. My point is what recreational pilot goes out of his way to comply with a loose lighting regulation (that is popularly and largely ignored anyway) but then fly over 400 feet, fly in restricted military space, fly without LAANC, fly without RID....oh, but make sure the strobes are lit for 3 miles *AND* in the proper configuration because that's the law. Configuration isn't even part of the drone regulation so I would expect compliance on that particular item to be super low.
  • Yet all I see are a bunch of drone masquerading around like mini commercial jet liners.
  • I call BS. :)

And there is your assumption that fails the credibility and due diligence test.

Hardly. Eye witness testimony is simply one source of facts and evidence. It's quality and reliability can be exquisite, or horrible. Your categorical dismissal of eye-witness accounts is far more destructive to your analysis than helpful.

I fully believe the eye-witness accounts of what occurred on that subway car where Jordan Neely unfortunately lost his life. I have no doubt those passengers were being truthful and accurate when they said Neely threatened to harm them.

Eye-witness accounts must be evaluated to determine their quality. Simply dismissing all as the fevered dreams of mass hysteria, as you are, is intellectually lazy – exceedingly so – and casts your arguments in the same meaningless babble space as those that are certain the Orians have arrived. Noise.

Although I have to say I am a bit intrigued at the prospect of getting involved in the Green Slave Orion Women trade, looked interesting on Star Trek.

My question, based on the circumstances where I live is this: Is there a real, verifiable substantial increase in the number and length of these flights?

Like I said, if more than one or two drones was seen in the night sky here in Santa Cruz, it would make all the discussion groups for the area. It would be a widespread topic of conversation. Regardless if every single picture was easily identifiable as a Mini 4 Pro.

The antibodies here seem particularly obsessed with the images, and what they are as a means to debunk some extraordinary occurrence. That's really missing the mark, and a lot of other evidence regarding what they're doing, not just what aircraft they are.

It turns out Wright Patterson was shut down for a while because of these incursions. It also is true that an airport in Ohio suspended flights because of unknown drones entering their airspace. These are facts.

I can't tell you what it means, whether it's Iran or some bratty kids screwing around. What I can say with certainty is this is not business as usual, hysteria misinterpreting unchanged circumstances. Something different is happening starting 11/15.

[...] there is NO doubt in my mind that there are also some drones. Sometimes drones flying in groups.
There is no doubt that drones of all types exist. And there's no doubt that hobbyists, commercial businesses, and authorities regularly fly drones, even at night. None of those are cause for panic.

Yes, sometimes drones also fly in coordinated groups performing light shows instead of fireworks. Those don't cause panic either.

But what we have here is people reporting seeing supposedly truck-sized drones, or 50 drones rising from the ocean, and other people reporting that they've heard someone reporting those same things, but none of those reports are ever accompanied by any conclusive images of such things happening. Instead the media keeps showing us the same images of perfectly normal aircraft, as though that's the sort of thing we all need to be scanning the skies for to be afraid of.

So now we have people reporting (and recording) every flippin' light they see in the sky and calling it a "UFO Drone". That's what's creating the panic.

Something is going on. [...]
Nothing is going on that hasn't been going on exactly the same way every other night.

Hundreds of airliners cross the Atlantic every night, queuing up to land at the busy airports in New York. If you're being trained by the media to search for any lights that look exactly like every normal airliner, you will have people reporting seeing hundreds of "UFO Drones" rising out of the ocean one after the other... It's nuts.

But something is going on involving drones.

Please point to any actual evidence that shows 50 truck-sized drones rising from the ocean! Every media report shows either what's obviously a normal manned aircraft, or just fuzzy lights in the sky that are almost certainly also manned aircraft, but people choose to label them as "drones" as though they can somehow tell it's not an airplane and there's nobody onboard.

Now that the events are mostly over and the only people left in this circus are the clowns making up the fake stuff and the people that gladly engage them cause it makes them feel good. The intended effect was accomplished with flying colors and now it's mostly done. In the meantime, the war is transitioning to phase 2 and look at who is involved in those discussions? See video.

I hope our more staunch supporters and their engagement continue to push back and stand their ground for the next wave with the same tenacity and fervor and dismissal attitude as demonstrated in the opening rounds towards their fellow community members. Let's see how much spirit and wisdom they bring it to the "real" fight against the "real" enemy and this pivot movement in which the state and local authorities won't be letting a good crisis go to waste.

Not entirely true. Runways are closed for many reasons. Sometimes flocks of birds will close a runway. Wright closed a runway because they saw a drone (one) flying in the flightpath of the departure. They reopened the moment the drone was dealt with and the departure was clear. A few days later they reported seeing a few more drones operating nearby, but not in air space that would affect operations (aka, typical stupid human behavior flying drones where they shouldn't be flown).

And, FYI, Wright-Patterson is in Ohio, and is the airport people are referencing... lol. So you are getting a two for one there. One incident made into two or more. So please, understand what the word FACT means (I should have put a smiley here - lol).

You need to see this 🤬

Well, that was fast. There is already a bill trying to hand over responsibility for drones from the FAA to state and local authorities under the guise that the FAA is overwhelmed (read: incompetent) and busy with other more important stuff and we're here to help take over some of the work by giving it to the police. Look who's here to try to help save the freedom....."Strong on drones!" 🤣

If this doesn't tell you that state and local law enforcement currently has no drone-regulation power and they're going to Congress trying to get that ability.....I don't know what else to tell you:

That's a rather comprehensive statement that you truly don't have the data to make.

Have YOU seen a single video conclusively showing a truck-sized drone in New Jersey? Do share.

No.

Not really the point though. Had you just mentioned truck-sized drones, we'd have no argument. Rather, you said "nothing", which is all-inclusive.
