Newbie from Arizona!

Hi Gentleman,

I guess I should first say I am on my way to becoming a newbie owner of a Mavic Pro. At present I fly a Force 1 or it is also called an MJX Bugs 2. I really enjoy the drone and am ready to advance to the next level... I have been an RC pilot for many years, from electric gliders, helicopters, and electric jets. A lot of flight time under this gray hair. Been a blast!

I to hope I might be able to get a little guidance from all you folks. I am looking at buying a used drone and this is what it all has to offer in the deal. Supposedly it has only been flown a few times. The gentleman bought it in August of 2017 on Amazon with no warranty is what he tells me. I would think it would at least have DJI warranty. He says it is in near perfect condition. What is included is,

DJI Mavric Pro - $794
The two cases that come with the unit and controller
FStop Lab Rapid Charger - $35
3 total batteries (2 extra - $79 each)
SKYREAT DJI Mavic Pro Lens Filters Polarizer - $50
After market gimbal cover - $10

The gentleman is asking 750.00 for it. What is your folks thoughts? I will test fly it for sure, what should I pay attention too? And being from Arizona, when is it to hot to fly? This is a really a super website with a lot of great information from a group of dedicated flyers who have some wonderful knowledge and experience. Look forward to sharing down the road more stories and definitely questions!

So you have to determine what the extras are worth to you. The Mavic is a great machine.

The gentleman bought it in August of 2017 on Amazon with no warranty is what he tells me. I would think it would at least have DJI warranty.

All Mavics are covered by the DJI warranty if they are purchased from an authorized DJI dealer on this list. If he bought it from an authorized DJI dealer selling on Amazon, then all you'll need is a copy of the original sales receipt in order to make a warranty claim with DJI.

I am at a lost at the moment of whether to go with a refurbished unit like LuvMyTJ suggested or I have found another used Mavic Pro Fly more package with a brand new Ipad mini 4 with 32gb, and they are asking 1000.00 for it. I did call my insurance agent and I can get it all covered for 56.00, full coverage; will not affect our home/car if I file a claim.

What are your thoughts on this used package gentleman?

If buying used equipment doesn't scare you away and it's in good condition, it looks like you're going to save $300-$400 with that deal.

msinger, thanks so much for the input on the used equipment and the possible savings. I think it would be a good deal. The gentleman selling the Mavic Pro sent me a few youtube videos he had done and they looked really nice. Will sleep on it and decide in the morning if I want to move forward. Spent almost two hours with the gentleman selling the Mavic Drone Combo and mini Ipad 4. Jaysrmc had contacted me and was going to meet and help me check out the drone but at the last minute he got called into work. He gave me some really great things to look for and talk with the gentleman about.

It is in outstanding shape, correct me if I am stating this, but what I seen from the flight data, the drone had been flown 3 hrs.43. min. and the battery that was in the drone had been charged full cycle twice. I will learn more for sure on all of this information. He had wanted 1000.00 for it and I ended being able to get it for 900.00. The Ipad mini is brand new. So with everything Jaysrmc mentioned to check and getting some good flight time on it, I an very happy. I know I want to get a sun shade and what is every ones feelings on the mavmount and are there different styles of mavmount to look for. I really don't know yet if I like the ipad mini 4 below the controller. Are feet extensions of any use or value. The drone does have the new quieter blades on it and it is really quiet.

All suggestions of the long or short list of things I should look at considering purchasing overtime would be so much help. Right now I am going to hold off flying until I get a little reading of the manual time under my belt.
