I have always been confused as to why dji leans toward apple products. One of the major things to me is imaging and being able to see my screen, the iphone x has I believe 730 nits where as the galaxy s9 has 1130 nits making it the better display. Sence dji is top of the line, why do they cater to a lesser devise.
Ps I do use an iPad to fly sometimes but quick flights I prefer my phone.( galaxy s9)

Because you can write the software once and it is guaranteed to work on every device exactly the the same. Hate Apple all you want but the walled garden makes it easy to keep things compliant.

I have an Android phone as my daily driver but found using my iOS devices always seemed to have way less issues. Devices I used DJI Go and Go4 on over the last 3 years: Nexus 6, Pixel XL, iPhone 7, iPad, iPad pro

Yes like I said I also use both but when it comes to updating you have to use apple so the people who prefer to use their android due to being a brighter screen and better camera now have to go out and spend more money for an iOS just to do update.

I am not sure what you mean by "do update" but if you are talking about updating drone firmware, that is not true, either Android or Apple can be used.

It is probably true that more Android users have trouble with the behaviour of the DJI Go software, due to the variability of Android devices. But most Android devices work OK with it.

^ What he said. Worst case you can do it on your PC with the DJI Assistant

I have had issues with updates in the past and told by dji themselves that hat the updates either have to be done via iOS or

So like I said dji is catering to iOS, if you use android, you will need to buy either an iOS or a desk top, I don t like the fact that I need to buy multiple devices.

It's not true, my Samsung Galaxy S7 (and an S4 before that) will update the firmware very nicely thank you.

DJI support do have a bit of a reputation for saying stuff that is not correct...
It is true, call dji yourself and they will tell you.

So I try it and it dont work, then I call dji and they say it wont work and I have to use apple, I use my apple and it works no problem,. Now after trying myself and being told by mfg, then it must be true.

Errrr OK then if you say so...

But I'll keep on using my Android device to update if it's all right with you.

It's always worth begging/borrowing a different Android device to try, if you have trouble like this. Some just seem not to work with DJI where another (sometimes even the same model) will work fine.

There is no reason you can't update from your Android device... not sure I ever had that issue. I do remember Android would get more disconnects in the Go app but not update issues.

The internet is full of like issues, even from this forum group, so with all these people having the same issue and dji themselves telling me. Then I must be lying.Screenshot_20190425-075809_Google.jpeg

Not sure why you are yelling at us about it. Alls we are saying is it is not everyone and not every Android device. It certainly works fine for the majority of people otherwise DJI would be out of business because < 44% of the people use iOS devices.

Don't get me wrong I'm not an apple fan at all But- Simply put apple products work better with DJI products period! If you have ever walked into a DJI store it looks just like an apple store? There is a reason for that.

Each should use the device and OS that works best for them. This sounds like the Apple vs Windows debate that raged for years on the internet blogs.
Fact is Apple’s “closed ecosystem” makes DJI’s job simpler, whether you like a given device or not. I am sure that translates to lowered overhead for DJI and so greater profits
For example, even when DJI uses Android, like on my CS, they use a modified version just like tablet, PC, and phone manufacturers.

Still, as I said above, use the device/OS that works best in your hands.
Just my $0.02

Can't argue with that (although not sure about the store comparison, I think that is just brand envy by DJI). As said above the restricted nature of the Apple system makes testing a whole lot easier.

But "most" Android devices work fine with DJI products, I have never had any trouble with mine. No question that there is more trouble with Android compatibility and some people can't get it to work with their particular devices.

I can't agree that you have to buy an Apple device to update the drone though as that is plainly not the case.
