Not Just Another iPad Question (Well, kinda.) Mavic Air 2 and Matterport.

Yes, I'm in the market for an iPad. (I loathe myself for typing that!)

I need a little help from the Apple Inclined People.

After my phone glitched for the umpteenth time during a flight, I want something larger/brighter, without cell service.

Normally, I would just get any compatible tablet, but my side hustle uses the Matterport Camera, which runs great with Apple but hates Android (v 1.0.1 is still in Beta).

So I want something compatible with both.

And I prefer to keep it on the low end of the budget.

Here is the Matterport Preferred List

And the DJI Fly Officially Supported List

The iPad I'm considering is a 2020 Apple iPad 10.2-inch, Wi-Fi, 32GB - 8th Generation for $299 via Amazon.

Will that work for both?

Double bonus if you have a great bracket and/or cable that you can recommend for this too.
The only thing that pops out at me is that it is only 500 nits and may be difficult to see in bright sunlight.

Did you look at the Skyreat? (On Amazon) or their web site. I use one of theirs and it works fine. Screen Shot 2021-05-29 at 12.48.01 PM.png

I am uncertain what you mean, but thanks for the information. The only item listed above that would help seeing a device that has a maximun brightness of 550 nits would be the monitor hood. I use the CS for all my drones except for the Air2s because the CS can not use the Fly app. With the Air2s I use my iPhone 11 max pro which has 770 nits max brightness and still find it hard to see unless I use a hood or shade. The iPad the OP asked about is not as bright as my iPhone. :)

I've been flying with an iPad mini 5 for a while now. I ended up with the cellular-capable version because I also use it for ham radio (PocketPacket) and I really wanted the GPS.

The non-cellular iPads do not have GPS built in. And just because you have a cellular-capable iPad doesn't mean you have to buy data service for it.

I use an iPad mini 5 and a Skyreat mount. But, I don’t use the clamp that came with the mount. I use a magnetic phone mount for a car. It’s much easier to adjust and is super strong. Can switch between a phone and iPad real quick.1250D2C7-1028-4DFA-BAF8-2072DD39BE07.jpegC15EAEDA-E81E-4394-BE58-28745C7A993B.jpeg4482812E-DFB6-494B-8D54-DBC22B3E956D.jpeg5135B573-6A13-477A-AA0B-82BA466FA4B2.jpeg18255C3E-8EE9-4541-BBF0-5485D5D68A5C.jpeg
