Just curious what people tend to set as their RTH altitude. Realize it could vary regionally (would be cool to collect that data) and for other factors, but just a general consensus.

Yep, same for the MM. I was just commenting in another thread how overly wind-sensitive the MM seems to be with its warnings. I know it is a lot lighter/slower -- so more easily impacted by wind -- but it just seems to chirp at you more.I don't try and set it too high, especially with the MM as the winds are stronger the higher you go.
I'm not finding that to be an easy question - because RTH should be set in pre-flight and depend on the terrain that you are flying in. As a rule of thumb, I set it to make sure it's higher than the highest trees in the area!
LOS....surely must be below 50 meters? ???Just curious what people tend to set as their RTH altitude. Realize it could vary regionally (would be cool to collect that data) and for other factors, but just a general consensus.
Yes, of course! Much lower with the Mini ... especially on a cloudy day. The Air 2 has that uber-cool bottom light you can flick on. Makes spotting a dream.LOS....surely must be below 50 meters? ???
It is dynamic depending on the location. Always set it before I fly to an altitude higher than the highest obstruction (trees etc.) in the area. Unlike government one size does NOT fit all.Just curious what people tend to set as their RTH altitude. 358', just to ensure that I'm way above any trees /houses / water pumps / etc.Just curious what people tend to set as their RTH altitude. Realize it could vary regionally (would be cool to collect that data) and for other factors, but just a general consensus.
