Question because I am curious...
(let me know if I am posting this in the wrong spot)

Can someone take a photo, using a drone, of private property (say a house) and sell it to a 3rd party (i.e somebody who does not own the house).

Pretty sure I know the answer but I just want to check.

Given part 107 certified obviously.

Yes ... as long as you can find someone willing to pay for the picture.

Privacy is one thing that can differ from place to place, countries obviously, but also localised by states or territories.

For the most part, if someone / something is out in the public domain, one can photograph that person / thing within certain boundaries (mostly regarding photos of children).

If someone / something is in a place where one might expect privacy, a fenced backyard not visible from the ground / perimeter, etc, then protection of privacy could be expected.

Even if someone parked out front of a property, if they can see into the living room through a window with blinds / curtains open, they can technically take a photo. (Read that in a privacy article in a reputable online photo blog some time ago.)

I would think if the property had a large perimeter fence, or the house perhaps more isolated inside expansive grounds, so not generally visible from roads etc nearby, then some level of privacy could be expected.

It's a grey / gray area that requires more specialised advice from a local level.

Just look at the paparazzi taking photos of the famous with super telephoto lens and then selling to rags.All legal depending on the jurisdiction
