Hi
My MAVIC Pro refused to land.
Home Point was not recorded, Flying in OPTI mode as GSP signal was poor.

I try to land by pushing down the left throttle. Once I released the throttle, the AC goes up, I pushed it down again and hold, it refuses to go down and when I released the throttle it goes up. I had to catch it by hand. Holding it by hand and pushing down the throttle and holding it down, it finally stopped. Luckily I did not panic, I knew the AC will fly upwards and disappeared maybe to the last home point. Am I right?

So if Home Point not recorded, is this what will happen?

thanks

Sounds like something was causing the landing protection to prevent landing, dirt on the sensors maybe, also you werent in Terrain follow mode were you as this mode prevents the quad coming down to land.

No other mode.
Home Point not recorded? the previous Home Point was 400 metres away

I was trying to drain my battery. It was around 53%. I flew it low and near. I have viewed the flight and saw that the HomE point Was recorded at 4 minute into flight.
Refusing to land, I had to keep pressing down the throttle. Once I let go, it shot up. I did not touch RTH or the Home Point.
Satellite count was around 3 to 7

Poor gps lock. Four minutes to record homepoint. Not wanting to land. Something is not right. Need to calibrate everything?

That moment, I PRAY, if it goes up, most likely it will crash or disappear.
Luckily, I managed to catch it with my hand and refusing to let go of the throttle. If I let go, it will fly up to 165 feet [my height for returning]

It can take a significant period of time for the Mavic to acquire enough satellites to record an accurate home point if there are tall buildings or trees around or above your position. If I can’t get a good gps lock I don’t fly from there, I’d rather move to a different spot with a good view of the sky and try again.

Check out your TXT flight log to see if it explains what happened. You can upload and view it online here. If you'd like other people to review and comment on your flight log, then please post a link back here after you upload it.

In the file, there is this message.

Warning__The remaining battery is only enough for RTH. Return home now.
9m 36.9s Auto Landing 8satellites 4.3ft 0.3ft 0mph 51.3ft 10% 10.76V 3.586V 3.589V 3.585V 0.004V Obstacle Sensing will be disabled when aircraft is landing. Fly with caution.; Critically low power. Aircraft is landing

Does this mean that battery low, it will RTH. Despite manual landing, it will not land, must go up and then come down????

Not the right file, but could find it from the contents.

The aicraft recorded the home point in the middle of the flight when it finally got a GPS lock, and since later your battery got critical it initiated RTH and attempted to go back there. You just needed to cancel RTH using one of the many available methods. Until you cancel it won't stop trying to RTH.

It is advised to never take off before you get a GPS lock and home point is recorded.

Home point doesn't matter when manually landing the drone. If it wanted to RTH, just cancel it. If you still can't land it, try turning off the bottom sensors.

But if you lose connection between the RC and AC with a home point that has been set mid flight by the drone, who’s to say that it is a suitable landing spot? It could be on the roof as in this case or the middle of the ocean as in others.
The messages on the RC at the start of flight are misleading as it can be minutes between “ready to fly-opti mode” and “home point has been recorded”.

Home point always matters, because that's where the drone returns to if it loses connection and is set to RTH. You cannot say it doesn't matter, because it might turn out that your controller loses connection and refuses to reconnect, leaving you to the whims of the device as it tries to land wherever that home point might be. Your home point should always be set where you know it is safe to land for this very reason

Nick, he did not say it does not matter at all, he said it does not matter where the home point is when you are manually landing.
