When you go to register with the FAA, you'l find that they don't ask for any details of the drone.
You are registering yourself as a drone flyer and not the drone.
The FAA doesn't know anything about your new s/h drone's history.

Was the PO flying commercially? If so, that specific drone would have been registered with the FAA.
