From 3-4-5 years ago. Where is it?

They probably have enough patents that no one else will be able to copy it but once again, an American company that takes almost a decade to roll out a new and innovative product.

Eh, again a thing that was designed as a PR stunt but was never gonna be made because it wouldn't ever be practical/viable...
You could submit your interest and there probably was nowhere near enough. Their other similar gadgets from the same time that actually shipped like the Astro failed miserably and got discontinued quick...

I actually think it's a great idea and for the low price, it's brilliant. perhaps at the time but in 2025, a lot has changed. There's no better time than now for a US company to prove they can do it and to build a superior industry-leading drone and with a little tweaks to make this offering serious, I can see such a drone because a hit with practical applications in the real world for various security scenarios in an outdoor capacity....except for one thing: Government regulations.

Google AI mode:

Was the ring cam always home drone a stunt?

Based on the search results, it's unlikely the Ring Always Home Cam was just a "stunt".
Here's why:
  • Real Product, Invitation-Only: The Ring Always Home Cam is a real product developed by Amazon's Ring division. It's available through an invite-only program, requiring potential buyers to apply to purchase it. This indicates a phased rollout, not a simple marketing stunt.
  • Purpose and Functionality: Ring presented the drone as a way to provide comprehensive indoor surveillance without needing multiple fixed cameras in every room. Its stated purpose is to patrol the home along pre-set paths, triggered manually or in response to events detected by other Ring devices (like Ring Alarm).
  • Development and Refinement: Ring has indicated the invitation-only program is meant to help refine the technology. The drone's public debut at CES 2023 suggests it's a legitimate product, even if its release has been delayed.
  • Price and Availability: The device is priced at $249 and has been available for purchase via invitation for a period of time. While not widely available, this suggests a tangible product, not a mere concept for show.
However, it's important to note the controversy:
  • Privacy Concerns: The idea of a flying indoor security drone, particularly one associated with Ring's history of privacy issues, has raised significant privacy concerns.
  • Slow Rollout and Potential Issues: The Always Home Cam has faced delays in its wider release, with initial plans for a 2021 shipment. Some reports suggest it still needs work.
In conclusion, while the Ring Always Home Cam has generated controversy and faced delays, it appears to be a legitimate, albeit niche and somewhat experimental, product being developed and offered by Ring, not just a marketing stunt.

I kinda like it too, however two drawbacks in my situation that I can see........First off, my dog would take it right outta the air if he saw that thing floating around the house, and secondly, then there's the danger of the animal puncturing the battery after he's done his job so astopped this so called "flying intruder"
