Should DJI Fly stop take-off in an NFZ?

I’m in the US, and 1.5m from DC IAD airport, and almost within the inner DC NFZ. DJI Fly allows me to fly, with only an alert.
Conversely, my Mavic Pro won’t allow mto arm motors.

Is this normal?

But DJI Fly has no lockout? Vapor trail left.

Any place within 1.5 miles of Dulles is in controlled airspace and requires clearance through the LAANC system regardless of what any DJI app says. At least that is to fly legally.

Geofencing works well for controlled airports / airspace.
I’ve tested it and sure enough can’t start motors, and a message comes up to that effect.
If there is an erroneous NFZ in their app, then those should be able to be reported and removed by DJI permanently after confirmation.

Sounds correct in terms of the DJI Geo restrictions. It's not legal to fly without an airspace authorization but it's just a warning zone.

I’m checking my gutters in Arlington VA. I have high confidence the MM will fly. Setting max alt Dest to 15m.

Is that the location that you mentioned earlier? Most of Arlington is inside the restricted zone:

The 1st flight zone was just outside Dulles Airport fence.

Arlington is where the gutter inspection would be done. It’s <3 miles to WH.

I’ll use a ladder instead.

The MM behaved identically to the MP. No motor arming possible. :-)

Yes. Especially if the president is there... 35 mile NFZ
A BATFE buddy confirmed that the 35 mile is always in place, regardless of POTUS. OPSEC reasons.

You can always mount the Mini on a long pole and control the gimbal and camera from the RC. No need to arm the motors to use the camera.

This is the Dji Flysafe map. The data used here is the same data used for the drones geofencing. In some areas, restrictions are slightly less for the Mini than for heavier Dji drones so pick the Mini from the dropdown list.

If you're flying anywhere near DC, you absolutely need to take special care, no matter what you are flying. Failing to do so could land you in some very, very serious trouble.

You might be on the very edge of the DC FRZ, so please be careful!

To follow up on my last post, looks like the DC Special Flight Rules Area (SFRA) has the same rules as everywhere else. But, once you enter the Flight Restricted Zone (FRZ), it's a different kind of flying altogether!

Have a look here: General Aviation and seriously ... read through the ENTIRE PDF file for the procedures! Here's a hint: You have to have a cop on site to watch over you.
