So now I’m grounded!

I feel for you. Here in the Philippines we are still on community quarantine.

I guess we are just a bit lucky that our housing subdivision has lots of open spaces so I can still fly the Mini whenever I can.
your screen name is making me thirsty......

The cure for this virus is worse than the virus! The more people get it, the lower the death rate goes! It scared people at first, but it should not any longer! With a less than 1percent death rate, this should not even be on our radar! Open the world back up! Yes some people are dying but it is way less than you are being scared to believe!

Well, France is now in confinement for at least a month! At least I have this wonderful forum to read and the videos to give me hope and inspiration. Mind you......hopefully I can post a little video when I receive my RS2.....Yipeee....should arrive tomorrow.
joking aside, I hope that you and your loved ones are all keeping safe. I don’t think I need to say more.

So sorry about your predicament. We here in the US are nervous about having to suffer the same consequences.

Well... England is about to be locked down again. *sigh*

For every month that the pandemic rages in the UK, I'm unable to find a job and losing potential income from rent in the UK.

It's beyond frustrating and depressing at this point. I've seen with my own eyes how COVID was contained and (mostly) eliminated in China. I've lived a normal-ish life here since mid-March don't even bother with masks anymore cos it's basically gone where I am living now. And yet, for whatever reason, the rich "first world" countries still haven't managed to deal with it. Correction, they gave up.

At this point, I'm just waiting for the tipping point of when my financial stress is outweighs my fear of catching COVID, or when my visa expires in China and I have to leave for legal reasons. It's like "which job and how much money is worth potentially catching a deadly disease for?"

What has the world come to? :(

As long as you stay within your own borders please do what you wish. Just stay out of my country. Ooops I forgot, our border is closed to you anyway and thank goodness. Our regional population of 5 million has had 263 total deaths, (52 per million or .05% ), with the first one occurring last January. 80% were in care homes. We locked down last March but encouraged people to go outside. Masks are still our third line of defense and only this past week are "recommended" when inside enclosed public spaces. Gatherings are restricted to 50 people and one small ethnic region that didn't get the message about family gatherings is now restricted to household members. The rest of us are "encouraged to restrict family gatherings to immediate members and no more than our "safe six." Be kind, Be kind, be calm and be safe. Wake up and smell the coffee.

It seems his reply would indicate that our president says everything is fine and going away. ( over a thousand dead every day), that's fine??

Who you vote for is none of our business outside of the USA. Yes, it does have some effect on how the rest of the world reacts, but it is your country, your politics - what outside observers can't help but notice is the mortality figure. Your covid deaths (if the figures are correct) are now higher than all your losses in WW2, Korea, Vietnam and Iraq/Afghanistan put together - that is why I was saying good luck.

I don't envy ANY leader in any democratic country right now, it is a poisoned chalice. Imagine trying to formulate a policy that everyone will adhere to, in order to try to gain some semblance of control over the situation. It is an impossible task, with factions of society in all countries refusing to abide by whatever temporary laws are put in place, even though it is for the greater good. We have it here too - students revelling, because they don't believe it will happen to them (the young believe they are immortal), other cultures don't recognise the leadership and continue to socialise in tight groups, then wonder why they get high numbers of sufferers, but of course it is always someone elses' fault, usually the blame is levelled at the Government, all of them!

We are now in National lockdown too - no going out.

Like this.....the election process seems to be more volatile then ever before and we will need luck so that riots and chaos will not be part of the outcome?

They will riot over a cloud in the sky. BUT this is not what this forum is about. In fact I come on here to escape all that nonsense

It isn't the deaths the Governments are scared of. It is the pressure those who get poorly put on the health system. Our hospitals are now at saturation point, not with people dying, because they can deal with it better than in the first stages. With people very poorly who will recover thanks to the health system professionals and their caring skills. Those who recover, but who have occupied health beds for a month on O2, don't show up on the death figures. THAT is the danger, that the health system gets overloaded with very poorly people who aren't going to die if they get treatment.

I was in that boat, spent quite a time in ICU, still haven't recovered

but it doesn't seem to have worried the majority
Actually it has worried the majority, it's just that the minority that believe it's nothing to be concerned about (or that it even exists in some cases) voice their opinions much louder and obnoxiously than the sane ones.

Looks like we UK will be joining you. I got both my drones due to lock down in March. I am not looking forward to this one at all.
Yes, I think you are right. Just have to keep smiling and wait for better times. What makes it all worse is that no-one is really sure if any of this is necessary. So much conflicting reports that you don’t know what to believe. Better not start on politics! Keep safe and hopeful! ??

Well, before this all goes off on a tangent....
I come from the Land Down Under ..... we have so far got through this pretty lightly, some mistakes along the way but on the whole pretty good. New Zealand has done well. The vast majority of cases now appear to be from those returning from beyond our borders and quarantined for 14 days before retested and allowed out. West Australia and Queensland had strict hard borders, Victoria was harder hit but now are containing things. All of us down here had to endure lockdowns with restricted movements, social distancing and, so far, non compulsory wearing of masks. Being a retired Nurse with over 40 yrs experience am well aware of the ease of Viruses to spread. My thoughts go out to all the world for a good resolution with an effective vaccine.

I just received this on my computer at 3:45 PM Eastern Daylight time.

BREAKING: Boris Johnson announces month-long national lockdown of England. to run until Dec. 2.

Yes, from next Thursday until the 2nd of December. Not quite as strict as the last one but longer. But schools and universities are staying open. Some of the Uni students are the cause of regional cases increasing following COVID-19 parties!! Quite a few have already been fined £10,000 each.
