I'm hoping to go back next year too and do the whole ring road and whale watching as well. We flew back on Tuesday and then there was a huge northern lights storm where it could be seen everywhere, was gutted lol but at least we got to see it once

Yes we are hiring a car this time and doing our own thing, problem I found with the tours is a lot of list time hanging around. Golden Circle was the best for me apart from the tomato place

We didn't see the lights but it was the few days after they had a huge snowfall.
