I have plans to go to Cocoa Beach, FL in July and want to get some beach footage with my Mavic. As expected, the FAA sectional chart shows numerous restrictions around Cape Canaveral's Kennedy Space Center, Patrick Air Force Base, and a few civilian airports nearby.
I submitted a flight authorization request via the FAA web site and was surprised to find it approved two days later! Great turn-around (maybe the severly reduced commercial aviation business has something to do with it?).
I 'm not a fan of big government, but when we have it, I love seeing it work effectively.
