If you encounter that error message while attempting to update firmware, there's a straightforward solution. Change the DNS (Domain Name Server) values on your network setup to the Google public DNS addresses: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. Router's often default to getting the DNS settings automatically from the ISP (Internet Service Provider). In my case, Sparklight's DNS wasn't allowing firmware updates.
I'd struggled with this through several DJI drone models and usually resorted to making the updates via a cellphone hotspot. Firmware updates failed, though FlySafe Database updates worked. With the Mini 3 Pro's Smart Controller, there was no way to update the Fly app until the controller firmware had been updated. Changing the DNS values solved it all.
