Updating Go4

You have later version than us Android users. OP however is way behind and can't seem to get Play to update it.

there is a new update today for iPhone.. 4.3.29?

This is weird. If I use the app manager, DJI GO4 is shown as v4.3.14. If I run GO4, select general settings/about, the app version is again v4.3.14.
Yet if I run Play Store and list installed apps, DJI GO4 is listed as "last updated Oct 2, 2019." Selecting the more arrow shows the version to be v4.3.25.

I assume this mean I am up to date and that the reports of version 14 are bugs.

Not if the app itself reports .14.
I still advise reinstall.

I have backed up the entire GO4 folder and written down all custom settings. My main concern: after reinstall can I restore the entire GO4 folder with all of its subfolders or would that corrupt the install?

You could try. Worse that could happen is you need to reinstall again, in which case restore what we know.
