Video Editing & Cinematic Black Bars

So i'm new to editing videos. Until now I just used GoPro's Quik to do basic quick videos. But now I am trying out the full version of Filmora 9. Still learning a lot. I have imported my drone content into a 16:9 project, and the drone footage seems to fit that aspect ratio fully. Filmora has a Cinematic bar overlay called the 21:9 But when I add this overlay, the borders look quite thick. How do you know when you have the correct border height? Should I do the project as 21:9 too and not 16:9?

Different software has different options.

I use Vegas Movie Studio Platinum.
