Why is there no option to shoot in ultra high resolution, like the new Mavic Pro zoom? All it is is a series of 9 shots. Then can even be stitched in post. Any reason they don’t program this to be done on the Mavic Pro?

You can do it manually- just fly backwards and up to double your distance to your subject and shoot a 9 shot pano.

Opposite, you want twice as close. But with a wide lens you'll probably need more than 9 shots with a lot of overlap to get them to stitch properly.

Correct. 9 should give you enough overlap. I know some who use this technique with terrestrial photography, fit a longer lens and stitch the images.

9 gives enough overlap with a longer lens yes, but if you substitute the longer lens with "geting closer with the wide angle one" the distorsion will cause issues and require more shots and more overlap.
