Zoom-quality pic/vid

I’m sure it’s a stupid question but is the quality of a picture or video less if using zoom?
I ask because when I’m normal zoom or 1x ( I think it’s called) it seems like everything is so far away and not in true perspective to how I see it through my eyes. If that makes sense.
When Im flying especially with goggles, I’m always worried how close I am to something in reality. Figured I could get a more accurate visual distance if zoomed in, plus would give me a cushion if too close. If that makes sense. Lol
Weathers finally cooling down here in Miami so looking to get back out and do some flying.

go into camera setting and adjust you aspect ratio because the camera
picture is compressed because the sensor are small.
in a nut shell it is a Wide Angle camera
close up is better the ratio is Better then distant viewing
think of mavic like a Low budget cell phone camera small Mega pixel
that can shoots 4k Video all be it 30 Fps and also in RAW

Just remember, it's not a "true optical Zoom", but more a "digital" zoom.........
