I'm looking at getting a phantom 4 or a mavic 2 and attaching a secured payload that would be less than a 1lb.

Which might get better range and/or have better handling with stock batteries carrying an extra ~500g of payload?

Thanks!

Extra equipment over 250 g, is probably the limit for M2P.

180 g of PropsGard is OK, but there the choice of Props affects your speed, and of course the flight time will be lower.

Just ballparking, but adding 500g to m2p is adding 50% more weight while adding 500g to p4p is about 35% more weight. Can make assumptions from that I guess

P4 deff. It will hardly notice 1lb. Use them often for loads. Many payload attachments made for it. VERY stable. Way less cost. Enjoy

I flew my Phantom 4 with 500g of external batteries almost daily for a year before one of the motor arms finally developed a crack. It can take a licking and keep on clicking! The extra weight actually made it more stable in the wind!
