When you send a command to your drone by lets say pushing the throttle stick up the drone "sees" this command as a code- lets say 0000055. Because there are other controllers and signals out there - you must give these codes a prefix number so that the drone only recognizes code from your controller. This is basically what binding pairing/linking does. when you bind pair/link your controller you are telling the drone to only recognize signals from that controller and ignore the rest - example: If you bind pair/link your controller to your drone and your controller has a prefix number of lets say 123 your drone will only take commands from a signal with a prefix number of 123. Without binding pairing/linking your drone would except every single signal it received as a real command from you. You can use any {compatable} controller but you MUST pair/link it first.
I understand what you are saying but "bind*" is not the correct word in my opinion because, in my vocabularly, the connection for control purposes is called pair% / link%, "%" being = "ed" or "ing".
I am aware that some people use bind/binding/bound/binded? and I think I have seen that DJI used to refer to the process as "binding".
But, that I remember, I haven't seen DJI refer to the control linkage using the words "bind"/"bound" since the advent of the binding that is a part of flyaway insurance.
If you wish you use words based on "bind" for the control linkage how then do you verbally, or in wiriting, differentiate between the control linkage and the linkage associated with Flyaway insurance?
Since they are two separate things it would be unwise to refer to them by the same name and very confusing for newbies who are unfamiliar with the lingo.
All my drones are paired/linked to their controller but none of them are bound to care refresh or flyaway insurance.
