If I’m going to continue using my MavicPro with my production company, I just HAVE to get certified and soon. It’s daunting to me as there is a plethora of courses and guides floating about.
The one being advertised on this forum by the Pilots Institute seems pretty straightforward with a guaranteed success. Pretty bold statement IMO.
My question is, is this particular course worth the effort? Just because they are sponsors doesn’t make them good. To that end, I would hope this forum would high check claims before allowing the AD.
The preview seemed valid and viable.
Should I pull the trigger with this course and stop procrastinating because that’s what I’m really doing.
 
Yes, you should. Not good you're not legal.
They all have "a guaranteed success". You need to study, but the test is not that hard. I purchased a course from Pilots Institute (not part 107) and it was very good. I used Gold Seal for my part 107, but they had a deal at the time - their videos were not "slick" but it worked. On thing you do want to look for is lifetime access (which they offer), as I did not finish the course for like a year just because I did not have a real need to finish. You also want to look for a renewal course included, which Gold Seal does have. The also have a separate course in getting a night waiver.
Not really trying to sell you on Gold Seal, just telling what I got for 99.00 (199 now) at the sale price.
It's quite possible that Pilots Institute is better. The FAA is changing up the tests so you might want to do it now, doubt it's going to get easier.

I used Gold Seal too and thought the course was good. They have a FB group you can join so if you have questions on the material, you can post there and they were pretty quick to respond.

You touted Gold Seal before and as you are certified, via their course, it must work. Not implying you’re a DA but just stating the obvious. I’ll look in them again but either way I’ve got to stop messing around and get off my keister and get this done. No excuses. Kind of like going back to the gym. Always an excuse NOT to go. Well I go to the gym so no excuses not to take a course and get this cloud off my head. Thanks mates!
 
I have been flying drones now for just about 2years! I will be using RemotePilot101 crash course in a few weeks since I am a more visual learner if that make sense.
I know this company has a very highly successful rate of passing the part 107 exam and you get lifetime access to renew every year!
Also, if you happen to fail the test the first time Remotepilot101 will pay for you to retake the exam at no charge.

You can easily pass the 107 exam with the materials below. You don't need to procrastinate or pay for a course. The 60 question exam will take about 20 minutes. Average study time is about 15 hours in total. The exam is NOT difficult, you just have to prepare.
1. Tony Northrup video and associated fact sheet. Watch this video first. Then watch it again. That will kill a few hours. See his web page for additional information.
2. The Official FAA Study Guide. This is comprehensive and contains just about everything you need to know. I read through this after watching Northrup's video, taking notes and concentrating on topics he discussed.
3. 3dr Practice Exam, as well as the practice exam and info on Rupprecht Law. These exams are very similar to the actual one.
4. Peruse YouTube for tips and most-missed questions. There are two or three that always come up.
5. Read the actual text of the Part 107 regulation. There are test questions on this.
6. Familiarize yourself with the Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge and the Testing Supplement for Remote Pilot, you will be given the supplement to use during the test. Don't spend too much time on either, though.

I will add that this is what I sent to a friend just this week.

I scored a 92 on the test with about 2 good weeks of study.

The Pilot’s Institute course is available on Udemy for $19.95 instead of $149. It’s called “ UAS/Drone Remote Pilot Test Prep for Part 107” by Greg Reverdiau. It’s the exact same material.

I've been studying on my own and am passing all the practices I can find except I'm slow grasping locating a tiny thing going by longitude and latitude on a chart.
I've learned all the other subtopic groups pretty well in just about 3 weeks of intense study.
If I don't finally become fluent with longitude and latitude in the next 2 weeks I'm going to register for an online course. Truth is though I never thought I'd have learned metar and taf. But I have.
You can too. If you can afford it taking a course is good as it will give you the confidence going to the test. . You'll still have to study though.

I was able to get these courses for $11.39 each. Not bad.


 
Most test are given on a computer. With the test you will find that one possible answer in the multiple choice is clearly not the answer. Using common sense will for the most part get you by !

There will be two that are close. I used YouTube to study. In remembering latitude and longitude I would think of Jimmy Buffett's song, Changes In Latitudes. You go north or south. 60 min. (Hash marks).

I do recommen taking magnifying glass with you when taking the test. This will make reading the charts easier.

My primary goal was not to pass the test, but to understand the material so well that passing the test would be easy. There are lots of ways to go about this, but RemotePilot101 does package it all up in a great format. They focus on making sure you understand the why, not just the answer. They also provide lifetime recurrent training, so next year I just go back and study using the latest materials. It is not the cheapest way to study for the 107 test, but it is definitely one of the best.

I passed my 107 last week using nothing but the free tutorials on YouTube. 83%
